Damn, I was pretty sure it would work. 🙁

Is it just those two games? When I had my problem the stuttering happened with EVERY game I tried.

not just those 2 games.. happens in all.. even doom 3 at the default reccomended settings..

dosent happen in 3dmark01/03/05 tho :/

Did you try the XG77.13 drivers?? A lot of people that suffer your problems are usually caused by drivers. Try this drivers and report back 😉

ive tried every driverset known to man in the past 6 months

k i am almost positive this is a fast writes issue, as loads of NF3+6800 owners had exactly your problem.
I also know that on some (if not all) NF3 boards, simply turning fast writes off in bios does not work. You have to download RIVATUNER (google) and use that to turn it off. This should fix your problem quite frankly..

when i turn it off in the bios.. it says its off in riva tuner.. both under the card and driver options.. and i can overclock the card without the 5 second pauses.. but the stuttering persists

This might be a long shot, but it happened to me before.

Look in your device manager and make sure your primary channel for your Hard Drive is not in PIO mode but ULTRA mode.

that was one of the first things i checked

It isnt an issue with your video card. It is a bug in the nForce3 chipset where it throttles your AGP card speed, causing a stuttering.

goto the nvidia forums and do a search for stuttering ... you will find plenty of info there. I have a 6800 ultra and I had to change my motherboard out in order to get it to work right.

Have you tried setting your PCI latency on your video card with PCI Latency Tool? Your 6800 might be defaulting to 248 and hogging the PCI bus. Setting it to 64 or so works for some people to alleviate the stuttering. This fixed my stuttering problem with my 5900, but my 6800 card on my new nf3 board needed the lat fix as well as disabling fastwrites to completely eliminate the stuttering.

Edit: Nm saw that you tried it already. I also had to change some d3d setting in rivatuner finally to completely kill the stuttering. Think it had something to do with blitting.

sorry, didn't see that in your first post.

well looks like you are stuck man.

just replaced the card with a X800XT.. reformatted.. blah blah.. halflife 2 skips and stutters in EXACTLY the same spots (not auto save spots.. between them)...

i really dont know what to do 🙁

It isnt the video card. This is a known issue with the nForce 3 chipset. I replaced my MSI Neo Platinum with a Asus A8V Deluxe and know all the games are lag free.
