my 67

Wow that is fantastic, totally spotless. Love the two-tone color selection also.

What's the bar on the side of the door for?

Nice, but could use a W-16 from a Veyron. It would then have the power to weight ratio of a Saturn V rocket.

How long have you owned that Bug for?
Did you do any of the work yourself?

I like a lot about you car! The paint scheme looks great (just a little bit too much pinstriping for my taste). I get that it is part of style. I love the clean and simple interior. That wicker tray is awesome, it looks right at home and period correct!

I live in NY so I don't get to see many rust free bugs around here. I guess it isn't an original CA car (no black plates)? Or could it have been a CA car and the plates got separated somehow? In NY the plate goes with the registration and not the car, so I get confused by how you guys do it.

I'm glad to see the Weber tuning book in your photos. They aren't impossible to set up right if you have a solid engine, access to a few different needles & jets, and good guidance. I've seen places 'rent' you a kit with a ton of needles and jets, and then when you return it, they refund your deposit less the number of items you kept (allowing you to keep a spare and maybe one larger and one smaller size for future engine mods).

Came in the thread expecting this :

But what I found was still full of win! Nice vehicle sir!! I love seeing classics well cared for and especially stuff you don't see every day.

first off, thanks you for all of your kind comments!

sorry for not having responded, i didn't actually think anyone would bother to look. i've had the car for about 7 years. was in the process of looking to buy a new car and was sitting in dealership listening to some dumb ass car salesmans pitch when i looked out the window and saw the 67 across the street, it was up on blocks. no windows, not tires, no interior. i told him thanks anyhow, went across the street, found the owner and bought the thing.

paint is 2 stage, the red is a BMW color, the off white i have no idea. pin stripping was done by a young lady from sacramento. other than machine work on the case, painting, and pinstriping i did all the work myself, including the interior, headliner and carpets. i have a total of about $12 grand in thing, which includes the original purchase price of the car. sort of alot, but the car is literally brand new from the ground up.

car weighs 1700 lbs, runs low 13's, at some point i will replace the stock transaxle with a close ratio gear box. should be able to see 12's then. the car is a daily driver, runs on pump gas (though i use a booster).

the 2180cc motor consists of a type I case, full flowed, line bored, clearanced (for 92's). CB Performance 82mm counter weighted super race crank - CB Performance H-Beam super race rods - AA Performance 92mm thickwall cyclinders - JE forged pistons with Total Seal rings - Heads are CB Performance ported and polished Street Eliminators (44 x 37.5) with dual Chevy springs - SCAT Pro-Comp forged 1.40 ratio rockers - CB Performance 28mm super light lifters - Manton high rev 3/8" seamless pushrods - Engle FK48 (419" Cam Lift, .587" Valve Lift) - 12:1 CR - Magnum straight cut gears - Berg polished & port matched "shortie" intake manifolds - 48 IDA Weber's (Italian).

have embarrassed many a rice burner & big block 😉

Nice!! do you have a 1/4 mile time on it? It doesn't take much to make those fast.

thanks 7window, i run it a couple of times a year at sacramento raceway, best is 13.33

Really nice.

I may have seen you up on 35 a couple years ago.

Cruising on skyline. 🙂

before i moved over to santa cruz i was in mountain view and spent a considerable amount of time in san jose, so probably Drako! and thanks.

Very clean, I like it! How long did it take you to restore it?

glad you like it! it's a never ending project though sketchmaster.

had it a little over 7 years deadken, i really love old school customs and rods, having grown up around the corner from a famous 50's customizer (invented candy apple red) joe bailon, so if there is a theme with this car (none planned) that's where the pinstriping comes from. certainly not for everyone though! webbers are the next best thing to sliced bread. plates do go with the car in ca. but there are any number of circumstances where they might be changed.

Gorgeous ride. I bet those ITBs sound rad as well. Got a video of it?

thanks yhelothar, no videos, don't possess the skills 😳

Very nice, is there some type of air filtration on top of those intakes??

i have a set Butch, but rarely get used, the oil (Brad Penn 50wt) gets changed about every 1000 miles so i don't trip, thanks for your comment.
