here is what this card can do in certain games. i can try out battlefield 2, quake 4, splinter cell 2/3, prince of persia warrior within (splinter cell and prince of persia came with my card), ghost recon advanced warfighter, and others if you all would like.
i can run CoD2 at 1280x1024 with extra settings, 2xAA, and directx7 mode (directx9 kills my card).
mgs2 substance i run everything maxed out! though if i raise the model detail to high, the whole game graphics turn black. so i just leave it on low-medium. everything else is on their highest settings.
nfs most wanted i can run 1280x1024 with medium settings, 2xAA, half texture filtering, and everything else on, but shadows and overbright are off.
nfs underground 2 i run 1280x1024, everything maxed except i turned off light trails (kills fps on every single comp ive tried it on - no joke) and overbright. texture filtering is max and i have 2xAA enabled.
fear...blah. i run 1280x960, with maximum cpu and medium video card. i get 0% under 25-30 frames (i ran the ingame benchmark) and 75% for above 30, and 25% for above 60. i will run some more tests later today...i found a bit more headroom on the card. i was at 542/1.03, and now im at 582/1.05! i forget the exact benchmarks though. ill take screenshots later.
halo runs perfectly smooth at 1280x1024, everything enabled/max, 2xAA via the nvidia drivers - i dont know if it takes effect in the game or not cause i dont know if halo supports AA.
warcraft 3 runs smooth at 1280x1024 everything enabled/max. with 12 people playing, the game slows down a bit, but with 8 or less people the game runs fine.
prince of persia - the sands of time runs awesome at 1280x960, all max settings. only slowdown is when there is smoke, but that is only for less than 5 seconds.
now time to look for a new monitor...preferably a 2405/2407. im not going to game on 1920x1200 or anything higher than 1280x1024. going to watch the 1080p videos natively...and the fact that my dad wants the monitor too, haha!
(rig is in my sig)
cliffs:
-the 6600GT is definitely a capable card at 1280x1024 in some of todays games.
-plays 2004-2005 year games at medium-high settings and older games at high settings at 1280x1024 with 2xAA.
-best purchase ive made along with 2GBs of ram.
-one of the best cards for the value for AGP, hands down.
thanks for reading and i hope this helps someone...!
