I am on a A64 3200+ (754) , radeon 9800 pro and 1gig corsair ram.

When i first ran 3dmark, my score was 2350..after a few weeks I ran it again, it dropped to 2302, i thought nothing of that. Today I ran it, and it was 2288! Is this something to be concerned about? Could my computer hardware have got damaged? i am doing no OC, and running everything at stock with stock cooling, i know stock cooling isnt good enough as the 9800 pro runs hot..could my components be damaged?

Or is this decreasing score nothing to worry about

Check your video card core temps and your cpu temps when you do it... do they correlate to the differences in your 3dMark05?.. higher temps will cause more errors, which are automatically fixed usually.. but do slow down your benches... I think... correct me if I'm wrong.

there are lots of things you can do effee. Defrag, registry clean up, uninstall progs you dont use etc etc.System clean-up in simple words. Of course 3dmark relies on cpu/gpu but dont forget it runs under windows. If windows are going bad even the fastest gpu will lag behind.

I've got a stock 9700 pro, and I get 2249. There is DEFINATELY something up with your scores. Check your 3D settings, your quality levels might be at very high, or something of that nature.

huh, thats the first I've heard of a 9700 getting 2249. Did you adjust anything? like are you running in 800x600? Also, are you OCing?

And no my settings are all set to application preference. From what i've seen, my setup should get about 2300 ranges in 3Dmark05

I get 2700 in 3dMark05 with my overclocked(410, 360)9800 Pro. What catalyst drivers are you using? Also make sure that you upgrade your chipset drivers.

what resoultion you running?
How long was the computer running before the test was run?
Have you defraged?
Do you run alot of graphic intensive games? If so how long before or after running 3dmark?
Do note that there will be some inconsistencies in score.
Do you run all of the tests or just partial?

These are just some of the many things that cause 3dmark score to fluctuate, there are most likely 1000's of such cases on the 3dmark forums. Check the forums out as well.

Everything is stock (for now anyway :)) and I ran it at 1024 x 768 (I've got the free version so I can't change anything) The only thing I did was go to my image settings in the advanced properties of my display, and set everything to optimal performance. However, when I first got my card, I ran 3dmark05 with all textures/mipmaps set to quality, and notched a 2143 score. What version of the Catalyst are you using?
