Just a fun screenshot. I've done a ton of wheeling and dealing to get video cards over the last couple of years. We can now enjoy the latest and greatest for the next few months :)

So who needs to be adopted?

P.S. Adding in my laptop and HTPC, we collectively have 54 core or 108 threads of CPU processing power in our household.

Ha! No, it was certainly expensive at times (e.g. bought a 3090 because that's all that was available at the time) and annoying. I spent a lot of time looking for available cards, and tried to time the market a bit with my buying and selling of GPUs over the last couple of years. I mainly got lucky with the eVGA que a couple of times and open box items at my local Micro Center. I kept a spreadsheet for my own information; summary below.

The cliff notes of it is I built 2 new computers during COVID lockdowns for fun and stay at home schooling. Also, the 3060 Ti in Son1's computer is for him to keep. It's a computer he built for himself that he'll use when he goes away to college this fall. I bought him the video card for his senior year gift. He's pretty talented at building as well. :)

Just in time for the 4xxx series to hopefully come out! :D

My 9900k is rocking my 3090 fine though. I play at 2k and max settings great.

This is true. I think the 4000 series will not offer much value, in terms of $ spent per FPS, like the 2000 series didn't. I hope I'm mistaken for everyone's benefit though. Still, I think my household can "get by" on 3080 or better GPUs. :D

We shall see. If rumors hold true, we are supposed to see double performance for 4080 and 4090. IE 4080 is twice as fast as a 3080. To be fair, my 3090 has zero issues with any game at 2k. I might throw in a 49" 120hz widescreen though at some point, and see how that plays.
