I have thrown this together quickly as it really is a last minute decision for me. Take a look at it and see if there are any gramatical errors or any poor phrasing.

For the past few years I have been considering a degree in Library and Information Science. During that time I have strived to learn as much as possible about the field. I currently develop and administrate a successful book review and information website and am constantly evaluating new ideas and theories in information retrieval. There comes a point though when it is necessary to learn in a more academic-oriented environment. The University of Wisconsin-Madison campus offers the best Library and Information Science program in the Midwest. Because of this, I believe the university would be the best choice for continuing my education.

There isn't much I would change. You may, however, want to rethink this sentence: There comes a point though when it is necessary to learn in a more academic-oriented environment.

It seems like there's a better way to say this. Maybe something like: There comes a point, however, when it is necessary to learn in a more structured environment. "Structured" probably isn't the best word for that spot, but "academic-oriented" is pretty clumsy.

Also, I'm kind of confused by the name of the university. Is it Wisconsin-Madison, or is it the university's Madison campus? Either way, you can restructure that sentence: The University of Wisconsin-Madison offers the best Library and Information Science program in the Midwest.

Just my opinions... And just off the top of my head. :)

Funny thing, I'm thinking about becoming a law librarian. Pay isn't too bad and 40 work weeks sound goodl

I know a person who has his MLS and was offered 80K recently. Not bad.

Yeah, the pay isn't all that bad, but there are some disadvantages to it. Unless you live in a very large city, it is probably going to be necessary to relocate when changing jobs. Also, there is no undergrad degree. You have to get a masters, and only from ALA accredited college (about 50 I am guessing).
