How much vcore did it need to post at 3.2ghz??? Same as 3.04ghz stable??

My 1.6ghz will load windows at 2.8ghz at current vcore 1.71v...i briefly tested at 1.83v and it loaded windows at 3ghz...same as Thugs...that is with a B0 stepping chip...I quickly got out of it cause I didn't want to toast it. I imagine it would have failed any test I ran.....

What mobo???

Was that actual vcore or bios set vcore???

1.575 is very nice indeed....

was the 50+c at idle or under 1--% load of a cpuburn program??? I would worry about high 50's....I run low 50's as my ultimate high on my current rig with no issues for 7+ months now. The temps have actually gotten better as I have reapplied several times.

i had it set to 1.575 so i guess if it is overvolting that much then it was 1.65....but i dunno if that is right thugs...seems like an awfully big overvolt

hehe shutup you bastard :) i know you are right probably, just sounded high...

anyways, i am on default voltage right now and it is running fine (it seems) at 155x19 for 2945mhz and pc2700 @ DDR 383

i know it isnt that great of an OC but everything is on default so its running at the normal temps

what can i do to get it higher, safely, and without pushing more voltage (or much more anyway)....

set to 1.575 is ok! 1.65v in windows is acceptable. (1.7v max)

you might wanna ditch the stock cooling and make sure your case cooling is decent tho.
your temps shouldnt go past 50*C on that board.

NICE OC :D

hey thugs can i talk to you in a real time chat client or something?

i have a ton of info that i am getting right now by trying stuff and i need your opinions...

i just found that my RAM is the limiting factor....

set it to 320mhz instead of 400 and it booted into windows fine on default voltage at 160x19 = 3040mhz

so besides the RAM it is doing great...

what is a better cooler for this kinda thing for P4's? ive never used anything but stock cooling

nope sorry no chat ;)
just post your Qs here ~ we'll get to them :)

run your ram in 1:1 mode til the cpu tops out and get back to us.
your max vcore setting in bios should be 1.6v as a personal limit right now.

ive only used an Alpha PAL HSF so i dont have any opinions on others.
the Alpha PAL is the best out there tho for P4.

HTH :)

I use the ys-tech 80mm fan which has adjustable speed from 2200-3600rpm...at highest rpm it pushes 45-50cfm....

The reason we like the alpha is that there is absolutely no question of contact....The embedded copper core is one of the largest you will find covering the entire IHS of the P4. The raised spike method will give the most surface for cooling....

I like it a lot....The one thing I haven't considered changing yet. Thugs I think uses a panaflo...

Ya my Asus P4T533 board seems to do everythign different than other boards

VCore 1.5=1.568
+12V=12.416
+5V=5.134
+3.3V=3.376

Idle temp = 24C
Full Load = 39C

P4 2.53
Stock Heatsink/fan

BTW could all this overvolting hurt anything?

it doesnt hurt anything as long as you dont go above...id say...1.7v

also, if you keep it cooled like you do, im sure you would be fine

the lifespan of these things is way longer than we will keep them for :)

Alright I'm going to chime in.
Here's what I just put together.

P42.53
Asus P4T533
512mb Samsung PC1066

Currently running at 2.849GHZ, 1.6v., 150fsb, temp at idle is 32C as reported by Asus Probe.
I'm going to go higher.

Sweet, same setup, let me know how far you can get it

What version of the board do you have? Does your northbridge have a fan on it?

Well at the moment 2.8 is it. I think its my PSU holding me back, a Enlight 300w. Have an Antec True Power 430W coming, so I'll try it again then.
The board is revision 1, and there is no fan on the northbridge. Heatsink only.
