my 19" LCD just bit the dust i think...

ive had a 19" LCD for about 3 years now, and im pretty sure it just threw in the towel.

i kicked the cable off with my foot by accident, and right before it went all black from no connection, it turned bright yellow. i was like wtf? so i plugged it back in and sure enough its almost completely yellow.

i can still read text and see icons, but its almost illegible and practically not able to be used anymore.


now, here is the kicker. the DVI port is the one that is fubared. the VGA port works fine...ive plugged both of them in to my video card and it looks perfect (well, VGA sucks).

i thought it was the cable, so i bought a new DVI cable. nope, still yellow. i took my girlfriends video card and put it in my computer...same scenario, VGA works fine and DVI is still yellow with both cables.

so i thought it might be my AGP port for some reason...took my graphics card and my girlfriends graphics card, stuck them in her computer, same scenario on both cards with both sets of cables...DVI is still yellow!


that eliminates everything except my monitor what the hell could have caused this and is there anything i can do to fix it?

A CRT I had once that was about 8 years old started going yellow on me, but that was definitely the monitor; it was not an LCD.

it did much more than start to go yellow on me. it went from perfectly fine to 99% yellow in an instant.

you mean the physical connection? on both video cards it seems to be fine. also, i checked out the connection on the monitor and that seems to be fine as well.

ive looked at everything a time or two and i cant actually see any physical damage on anything.

edit: ive also tested every prong of each cable with a continuity tester and they all checked out.

Have you tried another calbe just for the hell of it? Sometimes they cause problems, even with a good connection fron a continuity connection.

i tried 2. its in my OP. i dont have a third. they are like 90 dollars at CrapUSA and i dont want to wait another 4 days to get it from newegg for 12 dollars. im pretty sure its not the cables.

Sounds like you might be screwed.
BUT
You can always try selling it in Ebay, making sure people know it's VGA only. At least then it won't be a total loss, if you yourself can't stand usng VGA.
Sounds like somehow something internal got messed up

yeah

i am familiar with taking apart LCDs since i make DIY projectors...but i dont know if i can get them to send me a replacement control board.

the LCD is still under warranty.

lol this monitor is the shit. it has a usb 2.0 hub in it. ill stick with the VGA even though it sucks just to keep that.
