MX700 For Extreme Gaming?

Hey, I play:

CS, DoD, GTA 3, GTA Vice City, IGI 2, America's Army, BF1942, Call of Duty, and just about all other FPS games. Now, I really need precistition and speed, my Microsoft Intellimouse Optical is really just not doing it in games, too little presition. Now, I really need to know if the MX700 will perform well enough in games ... i can't take lag or bad presition ...

Dont go wireless if your a gamer, get the mx500 or mx300 if you want a good gaming mouse, along with a nice mouse pad like a steelpad,icemat or ratpad

You might check out the new Logitech MX510. It's been getting some very good reviews. It is wired, however.

The MX700 is exceptionally precise. In terms of speed, it's capable of tracking faster than I can move it. It's refresh rate of 125 Hz is exactly the same as that of any other USB mouse.

The only problem is that it is slightly picky about surfaces - highly polished or clear surfaces (e.g. glass or shiny desks) don't track well.

The performance of the MX700 is absolutely identical to that of the MX500 - the only difference is that the wired connection is replaced with a wireless connection.

To conserve battery power the mouse goes to sleep if it isn't touched for a few minutes. There is about 1/2 second of lag while the mouse wakes up. Once woken up, the performance is the same as a wired mouse.

I have the MX700 and love it. Im a huge CoD fan and play alot. My Brother in law also has it and we game together, typically he and I are in the top 3 on any given server. (aside form really bad days.) He is an even more picky gamer than I and he loves the MX700. It really is nice not having wires and it is certinly quick enough for CoD or even Unreal 2004 for that matter and very precice. I use the 3m preciece mousing surface and the MX700 seems to like it.

I have the mx700 and it's great for games. However because of the 2 batteries in it it is alot heavier than a wired mouse so it can be pretty non-ergonomic if used excessively.

There IS added delay because of the cordless factor. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either lying to themselves or simply doesn't play enough 'twitch' games to notice it.

I play Quakeworld, hands-down the fastest paced FPS game in existence, and my MX700 just became a gift for my wife's computer.

MX510 is the best mouse on the market right now. Get that instead. It's about the same price, probably cheaper, and is far better.

I play a lot of twitch games, and I have always avoided optical mice in general, that is, until the MX700 came out. I was using a very old logitech ball mouse up until a year ago, and I have a box full of optical mice that didn't cut it for twitch games. In fact, going back through the history of optical mice threads, I could probably find several places where I posted to avoid them at all costs, due to the lag. The MX700 just doesn't have that problem.

The MX700 is just fine, and after the first day or so, you don't even notice the weight.

The Logitech MX700 is the best cordless gaming mouse you can buy,only the corded MX510 is slightly better,I too also recommend you use a good gaming mouse pad and even teflon feet to give you maximum performance for your gaming,it does make a difference IMHO.

I have a MX700 and MX500, and I like my MX500 a lot more for gaming, especially FPS. However, I use the MX700 when I need the wireless freedom. There is a difference in how precise they are, but it isn't a big one.

I play fps's and I have an mx700. I haven't noticed any lag or problems. If you're a big arm-mover, you may find the mx700 a tad too heavy (I heard there's a weight inside you can remove, however). For me, it's perfect...perfect weight, cordless feature, mad amount of buttons, etc.

I use an Xtrac optical-mouse mousepad. Currently I'm using the giant 11 x 17" cloth version of their optical pad. I also own an 8.5 x 11" slim (hard surface) mousepad. I prefer the large pad because I do graphics and move my arm a lot, and I just like the feel of cloth better.

If you want the most optimal setup, you might consider a Logitech MX510 optical (corded) mouse, as mentioned in the other replies, and an Xtrac mousepad. Probably the credit-card slim sized version of the pad. I'd get the big size...you don't have to worry about moving your mouse back to center while you're playing because you've got so much space to work with. If you're hardcore, get some of those mouse feet tape squares while you're it it

I play all types of games. I have an MX700 and haven't noticed it being a problem with my performance.

In fact, I think I've gotten better. It is very responsive and having no wire is very nice.

The MX700 is perfect for twitch games. Anyone who says otherwise simply has not used an MX700. I play many hours of UT2k4 daily, along with Farcry and other FPS games, and there is absolutely NO delay or any other problems associated with the MX700. The mouse performs like any corded mouse, it is simply that good.

yea ive been running an MX700 (high school graduation present) for the past 2 weeks on my m6805 laptop.

performance is amazing, it's very clean-moving, comfortable to use, the buttons are nice, and it has a nice weight to it...doesnt feel cheap.

I dont know how valid their claim is, but Logitech says the mouse uses "FAST RF" to transmit to the receiver... perhaps that's why there's no noticeable lag, which I myself have yet to see and experience.
Ive been playing Unreal Tourney 2004 like mad and the mouse runs beautifully.

Worth the investment, Id say.

I think for extreme gaming it's all about the preference of weight. I use the mx700 and I like it a lot but I sometimes wish it was a tad lighter.

I've used a mx700 and mx500..

currently own mx500, and its good for games like everyone says....

went to my buddies and used a mx700 and there is something different about the mx500 vs mx700... not sure what but i wouldnt buy one.

And lastly, if i were to get mad and throw my mouse, since the mx500 is corded it wont go to far, on the otherhand the mx700 is cordless therefore BYE BYE

you can do what my friend did, remove the weight inside (a lot of people seem to do this) and he also took out one of the batteries and put a paper clip between the 2 leads so it think's there's a battery installed.

sure it kills his battery life, but he charges it enough to not care, and he hates the weight factor

i use the mx700 heavily, for FPS, RTS, and general use. I've also lanned for 24hrs at a time, and never had problems with batteries. Even if it did, you should just keep a 2nd set of AA's on hand, or charge it and take a break. as for lag, there is none, it feels like a normal mouse.

I agree if you're saying it rocks. I've used the MX700 and currently own the MX510 and definitely prefer the latter over the cordless one. Cords don't bother me either though, but I'm sure there are many of you who wouldn't be caught dead with a corded mouse . If you have to go cordless, get the MX700, if cords don't matter much, you can't beat the MX510!

There is no weight inside the MX700. The Logitech Mouseman Dual Optical has a metal bar inside, but it's not wireless. The MX700 is full of electronics.

I didn't like the weight of the MX700. It felt like a brick in my hand. Oddly enough, the dual optical feels great, even with the metal bar inside.
