i just picked up the 518 today at bestbuy. I had a 510 before that and i decided to see if it was worth the upgrade. Honestly....

its the exact same mouse w/different colors. Other than that i dont see ANY difference. But then again i use a very low sensitivity for all my games so maybe i wouldnt notice.

Just got my 518 at beastbuy today too. I spilled pop on my aging 500 this week and have a lan party to go to Saturday. I was all set to get a 510 from amazon but they screwed up my credit processing so I was actually excited to see the my BB had this in stock today.
Comparisons between my 500 and 518:
1) As Stern suggested the 500 feels just a bit more solid, the 518 seems a tad lighter and the plastic seems a bit cheaper than the 500.
2) The on the fly dpi switching is neat but 1600 is almost useless for any amount of accuracy in a game, you can spin around really quick but thats about it 😉

All things considered if time wasn't a factor for me I suspect I would probably be just as happy ordering the 510 at half the price from Amazon.

thanks all for your replies, I think I'll stick with my 500 right now and keep the money for an x800 pro 😀
