If your into this gaming mouse it just 30 bucks at target, its a big difference from Best Buy who's got it for 52

lol, i snagged up one of those g5's from best buy for $35, used a gift card so it cost me like a few dollars tax. coming from a kensington pilotmouse optical pro (i think it's called) that cost me ~$1 (after rebate) and came with splintercell, which i bought when splinter cell 2 came out, it's quite a nice upgrade.

I searched their site for that mouse, it did not show up. A YMMV deal for sure, but worth a look. It's a great gaming mouse.

"i think it is the best optical mouse out there"

i agree this mouse is GREAT [when it works] i had 6 of them [2x 510 and 4x 518] in the last 3 years, but for heavy gaming they don't last me 6 mo. first L-button starts skipping, then it stops responding within 2 weeks after that - same issue with all of them. thank god for BestBuy's policy on exchange.

now i'm using MS 6000, feels great, works good, only down side - it's wireless

How on earth did you manage to go through 4 MX518s, I've had mine for a good year and a half now without any issues. I'm quite a heavy gamer as well.

I still have my MX510, which is almost the same thing as the MX518, and it is almost 3 years old =P .. the logitech label is almost completely off lol, but still runs like a champ...
I think i'll snag an MX518 soon so i can put away my MX510 🙁 ..

thx OP

I have worn the feet off my 510, worn through the plastic on the fire button, moved the thing so much I got a broken wire in the cord where it goes into the mouse, had to cut the cord and resolder it inside the mouse. Still works great 🙂

I'm using 510 right now and I love this mice. quick and good grip for gamings. but i think i got it on sale for 25 at amazon tho that's like last year.

im still usin my 518, awesomest mouse ever! I kinda want the G5 too cuz of the rough feel, but they're both the same mouse, really

DAMMMMITTTTT!
I FINALLY caved last week and bought one last week after holding off for a long time. I had a bunch of reward points on my credit card and cashed them in for an Amazon gift certificate (but I could have got a Target gift certificate instead). I guess I can't complain because I did get it for free anyway (along with a Saitek Eclipse keyboard).

I like it, but I don't notice that much difference between it and my MX510.
If you get one make sure you check out UberOptions software. It lets you tweak all the buttons better than the default software.

I really like my MX518.

I wanted a corded mouse, so it wasnt heavy and I didn't have to worry about batteries or recharging.

I really like the two side mouse buttons on the left side, those are great for games.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the G5 or whatever it is, only had one left side button? I looked at both and that's why I chose the MX518. When I was looking if I had found a corded version of the mx1000(i think this is the one) that one felt really nice in my hand too.

Great mouse. The 2 buttons to switch sensitivity make an unbelivable difference in control for games that you go between soldier/vehicle modes(bf2142, planetside, etc). Only one ive used that i like better is the G5(like being able to switch out the weight of the mouse)
