Umm call me crazy....but isn't the increased dpi the ONLY real difference?

The mx500 is 4.7 megapixels and the mx510 is 5.8 if I remember correctly.
Dpi is a different measurement than the pixel count capability of the controller, but yes the sensor captures the mp/sec you posted. However, I'm not sure how well the extra pixel count translates into performance because the USB interface is limited to 2.6mp/sec so the rest is buffered in the mouse IIRC. All of the MX mice capture 800dpi including the 510, just for reference 🙂

edit- hehe, missed the whole page discussing it already. Excuse me as I fall into bed now...

Any reason to get this for a machine when I can get an mx700 for less? Is the mx700 less responsive or anything like that?

I bought MX 510 today and I must say that Logitech MX 510 is the greatest mouse of the world.

It hasn't got negatice accel. bug. MX 510 RULE!

I had a chance to do some battle with this mouse... super hot! I think the Viper is a bit more accurate but I find it very negligible and the comfort way outweighs any accuracy differences. I've read some reviews that did specify that the 900 is better but I have no spec differences on hand. Do a search for "mx510 review" in google, it's one of the first that stated that the 900 was better but it's still pricey and not super smooth cool looking (if that makes a difference to you).

I'm wondering since I bought the mx510 yesterday (on back order) from bestbuy.com is it even a possibility that the $10 rebate for the mx500 is applicable to this mouse... guess I could always send it in and see what happens.

I would imagine that if you paid for it while the offer was still on, you could get in on the deal. If you paid for it yesterday, then probably not.

I just purchased the Logitech Elite MX Duo earlier this week. I want a good gaming mouse but I also like the appeal of cordless. How much difference can you really tell between the MX700 and MX510? 😕

MX700 vs. MX510

Image Processing: 4.7 megapixels/sec 5.8 megapixels/sec
Resolution: 800 dpi 800 dpi
Acceleration: 10g 15g
Speed: 40 inches/sec 40 inches/sec

Probably not the right forum but hey wtf! 😛
