I just put together a new system. It has:

Abit KT7 mobo w/ TBird 800mhz CPU (not o/c)
MX300 sound card
1 PCI NIC
30gig IBM ATA/100 HD
DVD Drive

That's all the components in the system right now. When I installed the soundcard, the system would freeze everytime I try to start an A3D demo. When windows plays its warning sounds, it also freezes, but not every time. It seems quite random. BUT, it CONSISTENTLY locks up my system when I run the A3d Demos.. sometimes I can run the demo for about 20 seconds.. other times, it freezes as soon as I activate the demo. And by "freeze", I mean a complete system lock. No mouse movement, no power button, no CTRL-ALT-DELETE.. only thing i can do is reboot, or hold power button down for 4 seconds. There doesn't seem to be any IRQ conflicts in device manager. Any ideas?

this is a listed problem between the a3d hardware and the kt7 mobo. the kt7 faq has some stuff listed about it. I got mine to work by downloading the newest 2048 drivers.

Someone didnt do their reading ( whee )

It you think back to last yearm you will remember that A3d went Chapter 11 before Win2K was released to the public. As such, there are only 'beta' drivers and a few hacks to get it to work under that OS. I hate to tell you this, but the best bet is to go out and buy a Sounblaster based card...

Yea, and I had a Xitel Storm Platinum before installing Win2k.. and now have a SB Live in my computer.. sound is so darn useful :/

I had the same problem Jaundice, but i have ABIT KA7-100 mobo. Every time i tried to play any type of media files, i would loose sound but system itslf remained stable. That only happened in win 2000, win 98 was fine. I tried every drier i could find but none of them helped. After about a month of looking for a solution i couldn't find anything so i went back to win 98. i know it doesn't help much but i just wanted to say that i couldn't find a way go solve this problem.

Not long ago i came upon this article on EPOX website: http://www.epox.com/html/english/support/motherboard/Get.asp?Article=1269
So you (and me) might be out of luck with this problem

Hey, thanks for all your replies.. I took Elbryn's advice and downloaded the 2048 drivers.. Took me a while to find them because aureal's site is crap. I finally got the file from www.3dsl.com

I removed diamond's drivers and installed these drivers and everything is working perfectly now... Get these drivers! They're nice..
Thanks, Elbryn!
