MX300 + Win2k = Mediaplayer hangs and it won't play sound in winamp.. (<--- Please help!!!)

Works fine for a minute or so... But after that the sound just dies... You can press play in winamp, but the timer won't move.

Even tried the beta drivers from Aureal with no succes!


I replied another person who might had have the same problem. But then I said that mine run fine in win2k. (it did last time) But now I've changed mobo and processor.

Anyone who have a succesful setup with the MX-300 and Win2k?
Describe in that case your setup AND how you got it to work

Please help me out with this... I'm going nuts @ home...! 😉
 

dump the mx300... that's what I did... i got myself a CL live card... and it seems to work fine.

 
But it don't wanna get a new soundcard as long as the MX-300 works fine in win98. It has to work someway or another!

If it wasn't for the driver problems it had have been a great soundcard!!!
 
Everyone I've ever heard of that switched to 2K with an MX300 eventually dumped it for a sound card that works. Sorry, it doesn't just have to work someway or another...
 
I responded to you on another thread. My MX300 works perfectly in win2k. I just use the native drivers that came with win2k. I have a tbird 700 on a giga-byte ga-7ixe mobo. Whats your system like? I used to have crazy issues with my mx300 in win98, then I switched to win2k and now it rules. Another thing, when you got the new mobo, did you do a clean reinstall of win2k? Let me know, Ill help if I can.
 
I did a clean install yesterday and at first it worked, but when I've installed DivX ;-) codec and my H+ card everything hangs while playing a mp3-file. Including playing a asf/avi with a mp3sound in...


worked perfect on win98/win95 and winMe (with the latest drivers)

Btw, do u have service pack 1 for win2k installed?

[edit] tried and move the mx300 to another pci-slot but it didn't work either... There were no irq-issues on either slots.[/edit]
 
Yeah, I have SP 1 installed, but it worked just fine before that as well. I do not have any DivX codecs installed, Ill try that when I get home from work, to see if that messes things up. If it does, then you have your culprit.
 

dood dump the mx300... it'll cause problems.

it's finiky... it worked w/o problems with my win2k p3-700... but as soon as I upgraded... everything went to hell...
 
Ive been reading some stuff. It seems the mx300 will always have issues with Via chipset mobos. What do you have VoodooExtreme???


 
I've got a MX300 running Win2k, and it works just fine with the default windows drivers. This is on a 815 board w/ a p3 733. MX300 has KICKASS sound quality, period, so I don't blame you for wanting to get it to work. I don't have SP1 installed either. DOTE... users are calling....
 
Yeah, VIA mobo's might have problems. My MX300 works fine on my BX6r2. Everything sounds great on it. But when I tried the sound card in my gf's computer w/ Asus p3v4x, it showed the symptoms you stated where it locks up. Post your mobo and somebody will check to see if it's compatible. Whatever u do...don't throw the sound card out. It's still worth something. However, getting Live is up to you; from a utilitarian point of view, if you can get the mx300 to work, keep it.

Yeah, my wife gets a whole new computer system for MY BDAY. HEH!!! Anyways, I really just enjoy putting it together, and I do get an extra 128MB for my system out of it. Shes getting a duron 650 on the MSI K7T pro. Should be a real nice boost from her current p2 350.
