I had to upgrade my 98se PC the other day cause i couldnt get my winsocks problem fixed.
XP pro upgrade went perfectly.. But now im noticing sound from my MX300 will stop after awhile and i'll have to reboot.. Any way to fix this?

I tried a few ideas that float around here, but none of them ever fixed the problem. Just decided to get a Santa Cruz and I've had no problems since.

I did exactly the same. Got the same result too. U are prolly running a VIA chipset Mobo, which causes the problems u r having.

🙂

I have a VIA chipset mobo, an MX300, and WinXP, and I have no problems with the drivers that XP installed by default. Sounds great, doesn't cut out, or crash, or anything. Been running for a week now. The problem is likely that you should have done a clean install of XP, upgrades are notorious for screwing stuff up.

Tried that several times. No love. None of the other fixes worked either. Far as I'm concerned, the problem is solved. 🙂

I have an intel 815ep chip mobo and the sound is bad after a clean install of xp.
Cracks, pops, and cut outs. MX 300 great in 98se, bad in XP.
I guess I'll have to get a new sound card. I doubt any new games will add all the
great effects the Aureal had since they went bust. I really liked that card.
