MX1000 users please help!

Calling all MX1000 owners!!!

Sorry for yet another mx1000 thread... but after reading through the majority of threads here and elsewhere I find myself with a few questions unanswered. I'm looking to buy one...

First, how does the software work for setting application-specific button assignments? This is something that's important to me, as I've been doing it for years! Can you assign keystrokes? Does it actually WORK? It would also seem to be an easy way to fix the firefox back/forward problem that I've read several times...

Second, what's the *real* range that you are getting with this mouse? Up to 6 feet? 10?

yes all logitech mice can have buttons bound to any kb key. u just select "keystroke" from the button menu and set the key. thats what i do.. esp since it works better with games.. all games accept "keystrokes" when some do not understand stuff like "forward and backward" features for browsers and such. plus, with the little buttons around the wheel i find their default redunant. i just set them to "end" and home instead.

For the range, I'm getting about 20 feet max. And that's with going through a couple of walls. Definitely no problems there.

but just to verify - you can set this differently for specific applications? And it works without any problems?

I can't remember where but I remember reading something about a serious driver problem with a newer logitech mouse... and now I can't find it anymore... maybe it was the bluetooth for the mx900 that interfered with the application-specific settings?

well for paranoid people ... just keep the reciever right next to ur mousepad. i mean why not wireless is mostly for no wire dragging, not for sitting way away from ur pc.. atleast for most people.

Yeah, well, I just got a new 24" LCD... and as I watch alot of movies on this and I don't feel like buying a remote control setup, I could see myself sinking into the couch and using the mouse to control movies...
