MX1000 Owners: A Question

I recently purchased the MX1000 and it does not have the problem of not responding when it is lifted and set back down. The one problem I do have with it is this: When I hold the mouse normally (to where it fits my hand perfectly) I cannot make horizontal lines with quick motions. All of my lines have a slight angle to them, sloping from the left and going upwards to the right, similar to a forward slash / but not as severe. I have tried setting the orientation with no success, so my question is this: for those of you out there WITH MX1000's, does this also happen to you? Was there a slight learning curve or something to adjust to this? I bought the mouse from Sam's which has an excellent return policy, but I'd rather not open two of them if both will have the same result.

Also, I have had 3 other people use the mouse on 2 different computers and try to make horizontal lines by moving the mouse left and right quickly (in MSPAINT) and they have all had the same result, indicating it may be the mouse or some software setting I am missing.

Heh, yes I suppose that is an option albeit, not a very good one. 🙂
 
It depends the angle at which you're holding the mouse in your hands. Try rotating it a little to each side but using the same arm movements.

Though you don't NEED it, I'd recommend you use a half decent mousepad. I tried my MX1000 on a 15 or so year old mousepad and it was a little jumpy.

From your response, I take it that you have a similar problem? Rotating the mouse does work in alleviating this problem, but then my hand feels uncomfortable on the mouse. Please let me know if you also had to rotate the mouse a bit, indicating that is the way the mouse behaves as designed, and mine is not faulty.

Also, as for the mousepad, I am very interested in getting a new one since my new desk is clear glass. I'd like one that is pretty sizable to satisfy my game playing habits, and am up for any recommendations (As long as they aren't $50+) 🙂

No, I am having to use an older mouse pad BECAUSE my desk is glass. My last question, are you holding the mouse to where your thumb fits nicely in the curved portion or is just the tip of your thumb in that curved area?
 
Don't try holding the mouse in any position other than the one that is most comfortable to you. It's not worth the risk of injury.

I guess you would either have to get a new mouse (like a microsoft one...) or get used to the laser mouse. I love mine and never had any jumpy, falling asleep, forward slash, etc... problems

glorygunk, I completely agree. My main concern is whether or not my mouse is faulty, which is why I was asking about how he held his mouse. How do you hold your MX1000? Do you hold it with your entire thumb resting in the indented portion, or is just the tip of your thumb rested there?
 
Get a func surface 1030 mouse pad. has 2 sides, a rough side and a smooth side. Works great for gaming, and it is decently sized. It comes in a nice tin also.

I Have an MX1000, and when I get home I'll see if I have the same problem, though I'm pretty sure that I won't.
 
The problem I'm having with this mouse is that I can't install the setpoint software and still use the middle mouse "open in tab" function for firefox. Has someone figured a workaround for this?

In the setpoint software, choose the Zoom button. Under Select Task, choose Other and click the Select Function button. Choose Middle Button from the drop down list.

That should do it.

That did it, it's funny because every time I went into the software to try to resolve the problem (all of 3 minutes spent at the most 🙂 ) I would see that option and say "Nope, already tried that" but now I think I probably did 'Generic Button' instead of 'Middle Button'

I hold it with my entire thumb in the groove. The mx1000 is very well sculpted to my hand...such that I have a lot of palm contact.

Yeah, ergonomically speaking the MX1000 is teh best mouse out there IMO.

Just i want a wired one 🙁
 
UPDATE:

Brought the MX1000 back to Sam's and exchanged it for aonther one. The 2nd one had a less pronounced slant, but it was still there, and to top it off the scroll wheel did not scroll very well in one direction. It made pretty audible (more than usual) clicks and felt like something was in there adding more friction. Not happy with this mouse either, I returned it for a refund.

I decided to give the mouse ONE more shot (I thoroughly enjoyed not having any wires; I had no instances of lag or anything of the sort) I went to a different Sam's club and purchased the MX1000 on more time. This was the best mouse of all for making horizontal lines, but still imperfect. I believe this may have something to do with my fingers being quite long, but other people I had test it out had various finger sizes and the same problem. Anyways I could deal with it BUT this mouse had the infamous delay after setting it back down.

I want to be clear that you do not have to hold the mouse above the surface for 2 seconds, I just picked it up to quickly place it back on the mouse pad and the delay would happen. I do not have my sensitivity very high or very low, and running out of mouse pad does not happen often, but when it does, this problem is horrible.

Long story short: 3 MX1000's, wanted to love the mouse but could not put up with the problems I experienced. I hope later generations fix the issues but it is back to the cord for me.
 
I noticed my mouse gets the pick up lag sometimes when it's low on battery. Makes sense, since it turns off quicker when it's almost dead to preserver that last bit of battery.

Methinks you're just too picky 😛

The pick up lag was on a full charge and was really only noticable in games. There is quite a bit of documentation by users (on this forum included) that it is a problem.

And it is quite possible that I am too picky, but when a mouse costs $60 I don't expect any problems with it.
 
Try a nice mouse pad like a Surface 1030 or something. I have the MX1000 and have had no problems with it other then when working with solidworks. The side scrollers make it kinda hard to rotate parts but it's not that big a deal. I also don't get this pick up lag that you speak of.
