MX1000 --- I can't see the laser!!!

The laser beam is infra-red so appears very dim. You can normally only see it if you stare directly down the beam in a darkened room. It's not recommended that you do this on a regular or a prolonged basis.

u guys are right...now i'm blind in one eye cuz of the amazing invisible laser 😉

big props to logitech for making such a cool mouse

Do not make light of this...no pun intended

As an Ophthalmologist...lasers in the wrong hands can be dangerous...I have seen injuries from laser pointers...not all of these products are safe and of the same quality

Fortunately the individual had a significant improvement in the scotoma(ie blind spot)

what i find fascinating is that we can correct bad vision with a laser shot into the patient's eyes, yet to check prostate, we still havta get a finger up the whazoo.

learned a fun fact in my astronomy class that the retina lacks pain receptors, so something like staring at the sun as it melts your eyes, you feel nothing as you go blind 🙂

so dont try looking too hard

In fact...the retina only makes(so to speak )light..that is why if you push on your eye(ie rubbing) you will get "stars"...you stimualte your retina with pressue which caused it "become activated" so you saw light

In fact if you apply any excessive stimulation..heat, cold(we use cryotherapy to repair certain retinal tears..I literally apply an iceball through the eyewall..patients always tell me they are seeing stars) etc to the retina you will get light flashes

The pain you feel is related to pain receptors in other layers of the eyewall

Just got the MX1000, but despite staring directly into the lens...I can't see any laser!

I have one of these mice too...its awesome. Whats really sweet is how it has an led bar to show you how much battery power you have left....now you can see that, right? Even after looking at the laser?

if anyone here has the mx1000.. have u ever noticed that when u pick it up like an inch or 2 off the mouse pad.. then set it down and at the same time sliding it across the pad it doesnt track anything for like a second?

so if you are one of those gamers that picks up the mouse alot to reposition, the mx1000 kinda will mess up your stats. although i am not one of those gamers but some are

Not all MX1000s have this defect. Mine does not. Granted, I don't use the mouse in that fashion, but I tried to replicate the error and it just doesn't happen.

Who is picking up their mouse an inch or 2 off the pad ne ways mine may come up .25 or so but not an inch.
