I have done some reading on prospective mice for gaming and the 510 seems a logical choice at this time.
My question is this: can the 510 be programmed so that you can do away with using the keyboard in some of the games you can play. Kids are finding it somewhat awkward to play using the w, s, e, r, tab buttons. Thought maybe the multifuctional mouse could be assigned those keystrokes. Is that possible?

wanta make sure before i buy

thanks

Yes the logitech software allows you to assign every button with almost any keystroke.

Not a good idea in my opinion. You would want to move using the keyboard (left hand) while you look and shoot with the mouse (right hand). Doing it all with the right hand is only going to limit your performance.

Maybe it's not an FPS. :)

valid point, but you could modify your system to configure to your own unique characterics...movement isn't such a problem on the keyboard as are some of the other functions that are present on the keyboard(tab, F1, etc)...its all a matter of what you feel comfortable with...in gaming your talking about reaction time in milliseconds and my left hand is like a bell in a ducks ass which leads me to want to change some of the options over to the mouse if possible

There are 2 new keys on this mouse that I can use in games easily, and I do.

There are three other additional keys on this mouse that I cannot assign in games. They are not considered to be keys! I have read posts that describe how it may be possible to assign those also. But, I have not tried that.

But, I use the new keys when surfing the web (all of them). I have got used to them. It is great!
