Mwave a64 2800+

Call and ask AMD part number. You definity don't want a claw hammer based newsastle....But then again 99% of the chips at popular vendors like mwave, newegg, and zippy are all AX NC so you should be safe.

If it's worrysome or unresolved newegg only has AX newcastles.

i want to buy it tonight, should i wait till a day or two? would there be any sudden price drops because of the new 939 cpu's?

Why are the ClawHammers bad? Just curious...

Clawhammer newcastles are bad. What they are, designated by AP at the end of thier product code, is almost 2 yr old chips.

They we'rnt able to run using the full 1mb lvl 2 cache so what AMD did is cut them down to 512, lowered thier speeds to 1.8 and 2.0 and called them "newcastles". These are the chips most old schoolers have and can only hit 2.1-2.3.

While the real newcastles, designated by AX in 754 case, are made with 512 lvl2, are made this year and hit 2.4-2.5 pretty easy with Stock HSF.
