I don't think it was nearly as bad back in the MW1 days. There's room for fair criticism, and there's also plenty of room to praise a tried and true recipe. From MW1 > MW2 > Black Ops > MW3 there doesn't seem much growth. I bet we'll see a lot of new things, including a new engine in the post-MW3 CoD titles though. Real generational jumps between game releases can be good or bad. Sometimes it's good to stick to a winning formula for a while. I know with each major Halo release there has been pretty considerable changes to the big picture, but it always gets a lot of flack from the big fans of the previous games.

As is usually true in politics, the real truth is always something in between the extremes.

and?
i bet the weapons still couldn't hit the broadside of a barn from the inside, you'll still run 20 minutes across the map only to die and have to do it ad nauseum because other players don't play as a team, still have to deal with 90% of the players playing as snipers, and still get TKed over vehicles.

you can polish a turd as much as you want but it's still a turd.

I'm still trying to understand your point. Battlefield has never run at 60 fps on a console, and you think a new engine is going to do that? What you linked looks like the PC version of multiplayer - so my question is, will it be as smooth as that. Doubtful, considering their old engine couldn't even be as smooth.

Look, I understand you're trying to come up with reasons why you dislike CoD, but to think the BF series is any different would be asinine. They're both the exact same game they were when the originals came out.

You must have played with some terrible players. Good BF2 (note I didn't say BC2 lol) servers are really interesting experiences, once you find a good one and get some good team players the much more advanced realm of tactical options is very rewarding.

I understand the appeal of quick twitch deathmatch style play, where even after dying you're no more than a tiny fraction of time right back into the grinder in full action, but there's a place for both for sure.

Weapons are much more realistic even in ancient BF2, you just have to really learn them, which takes a lot of patience.

I got a little bored of twitch extreme deathmatch play back in Quake1 days (Thresh, lol what a maniac), but I had a good amount of fun over the years with the various popular ones.

I'm looking forward to BF3 as it will be feasible to get together and form several 6 to 8 player squads per side, and either link up for overwhelming force, or split up to try to target particular areas of the map.

And to be really good at COD and stand out above the crowd with the <1 KDR, it takes patience and practice. As it has been said before, COD is a game that anyone can jump into and play without much of a learning curve. It is friendly to new players in that way. But to truly master it takes practice and, dare I say, skill. In that way, it is rewarding. Even if it is twitch 1v1 killing, there is still strategy involved in being a REALLY good player and of course a lot of stick skill.

Different strokes for different folks

P.S. Can we make this the "Let's bitch back and forth about COD" thread? That way it can stay out of the others! ;)

You're right, every day I go out of my way to be "cool" on the internet. Is it no longer allowed to simply dislike something?

Doesn't a discussion about not liking something have as much validity as a discussion about liking something? And my bad, I don't comb through the forums to see if something's already been posted. If I (or someone else) commit the apparently heinous crime of reposting (egads!!), don't post in it. That simple.

I'm over the twitchy TDM games as well.
They really started to push this big time in Blops. I couldn't fathom how bad spawn points are. Games that are 7-8 years old are better at this.
None of the maps have a "front".
I've been killed more times reloading than I have in a gunfight. This includes taking any precautions like clearing the next corner before reloading.
Spawning is so bad Not even time to glance at the mini map for enemy dots and look around for enemy activity in sight. This only takes a second, but it costs lives. It's sad when your best bet is start running in any direction.
They also dumbed down every assault rifle into the same thing. Everything feels the same. They nerf guns so 12 year olds stop complaining about some overpowered AR or SMG. They nerf perks, but completely screw up melees. You can pass someone, then melee. All by design. Don't believe me, try it yourself.
Beyond garbage.

It took me a while to figure why they do this. Too many scrubs complained.

I'll be picking up of BF3 and MW3.

But I'm expecting to enjoy BF3 more. It's a change of pace I'm looking forward to.

I'm going to sit this one out.

Bought MW2 and Black Ops at release and didn't bother getting any of the bs map packs.

How can you release a $50-60 game, and then 3 weeks later be like... oh, we have an update for $15 more of your dollars.

Neither do I, but if you're gonna bitch that much about a game and call it garbage, then say you're buying sequel x 99, then you're part of the problem of sheep flocking to this company and their rehashed shit games.

First of all, this is more of a Treyarch rant above anything else. Yeah, Activision is evil, but so is EA. If you think my wallet in singularity is going to make a difference, I'll balance it out by buying the direct competitor as well.
What are you, the thought police? Go take your attitude somewhere else.
