lmao. calling mw2 a an expansion of mw1 when you're playing BC2 which is just BF2 re-done.

Are you paid by Activision to troll every time something negative comes up about MW2?

Well enjoy your $15 map pack, which is probably going to be the first of many.

With all this talk about the map pack, i had a strange urge to play some MW2. Logged onto some Ground War last night and tried to get a nuke, but first thing that happens after my like 6th kill is that I get walled obviously by a hacker. GG

I gave it a second chance, left that match, looked for another one, now it wasnt a waller, but an aimbotter. GG again

Hackers are getting even more common in MW2.

Hilarious, especially because MW2 maps are not that complex from an art asset or arcitecture point of view (compared to say BF2 or even BC2). Probably cost maybe $200,000 in salaries and testing and they will make potentially $100M+ revenue from it, maybe a few hundred mil.

LOL... Good luck selling a map pack to PC gamers, IW. Hopefully this decision puts you down into the eternal abyss where you belong. Everyone knows that PC map packs are free, even if the console counterpart costed money, 99% of the time, the PC map packs are free because PC gamers are not up to paying for a patch/map pack.

Also, unless they figure out some sort of genius DRM, this map pack is going to be pirated like there's no tomorrow. They'll have to have some sort of separate CD key for the map pack like BFBC2 did for the bonus content. Even then, pirating it wouldn't be a huge challenge. If their DRM is successful, my guess is that we'll either see a huge increase in hamachi servers or the game will just drop dead like a fish out of water.

I'm sure glad that I waited for BFBC2. Not only are they unlocking the maps for all of the game modes, they announced that a patch adding maps to the game was planned, and that it would have no cost to PC gamers.

I really can't wait for this map pack to fail epicly so we can laugh at IW and their stupid business model of releasing slight variations of extremely hyped up dog shit for outrageous prices.

The DRM is very simple - when you purchase the map pack it is tied to your CD key. If you try to access maps that aren't assigned to your CD key it will fail. Of course if you have some method of bypassing this CD key check already then you can pirate it.

That has to be one of the most amusing comments I've heard. You obviously haven't either played BC2 or your just a huge MW2 fanboy. Does BF2 have the frostbite engine? No. Does BF2 have the graphic options like HBAO and does it support DX10 or DX11? No. Bad Company 2 is completely redone from BF2. If you look at MW2 the requirement specs are almost the same as COD4 and are the exact same as World at War. They couldn't even implement DX11 into the game. MW2 is just a $60 expansion pack for COD4, plain and simple.

I'm not talking about graphics. game play and style is exactly the same. I don't give a shit about the graphics changes. BF BC2 is just an expansion for BF2.

Sorry but game play is not the same. You can't lone wolf it in this game and carry your team. Teamwork is a large part of this game where as in MW2 it is a solo fest. The only style they share is they are both FPS set in a modern day setting and that you unlock stuff as you progress. Adding vehicles and destructible environments adds a whole new part to game play and style alone as well.

I was comparing BC2 to BF2, not MW2.

Gameplay in BC2 is exactly the same as BF2 with a few minor changes.

You need to play BF2 again. The only things that makes BF2 similar are:
Conquest Mode
Ground Vehicles
Large Open Maps

That's it.

BC2 has destructible environments (this is a huge gameplay change) via the Frostbite engine. There's no commanders in BC2. There's a 32 player limitation in BC2 as opposed to BF2's 64. I could go on, but I made my point.

However, since we're playing the comparing game... what has MW2 changed from COD4? Not a whole lot. Maps are a little more vertical, there's the addition of new killstreaks, and some of the perks have been renamed, moved, or removed. Oh yea, and multiplied all the point values by 10. Woopdeedoo.

COD4 was and still is a great game. It's just that a lot of people are sour to the fact of all the BS decisions Activision has made and all the nickle and diming that's going on. MW2 has done little to change or improve the Modern Warfare series... it's just the same damn game. People generally get pissed off when they pay $60 for the same game they bought two years earlier (which happened when people bought BF2142...essentially a reskin of BF2).

Now, mind you, MW2 is still damn fun. I had a blast playing it a few months ago on the 360, but I couldn't care less about the game any more. Why? Hackers. Maybe it's not a big problem anymore, but I've given up now, and am enjoying BC2 on the PC.

Well to me it feels like a different game. More close to CoD:MW than to BF2. Smaller maps and much more fast paced. BF2 was very slow even in the smaller city maps like Karkand.

So they kill dedicated servers and custom content.

And now they are charging $15 for a crappy map pack.

Shocking.

Maybe I should give props to Relic and DoW2. User-made content available, both custom and ranked matches available, several free official maps released, and maps, units, and game modes from the new expansion are available to players who did not buy the expansion.

Sorry I totally misread it, my apologies. Too many 2 letter abbreviations and 2 after it and my brain just started to mixing it all up lol.

MW2 is the only game I have ever, in my whole life, avoided buying because the developers are pieces of absolute shit.

And I feel so good about it.

Then every COD game is the same and just an expansion from the first COD. Seriously why are you so thick headed? You may not care about graphics but other than the graphics and sound updates you now have to deal with distributable environments which means no hiding in buildings and other always changing game play.

I guess your just trolling around and waiting for people to say something good about BC2 so you can bash it. Please by all means keep playing MW2 since you can't be successful in BC2.

LMAO! i never said MW2 was a change from MW1. you guys keep bringing this up for some reason trying to "pwn" me or something, i guess, but i'm not denying it, so does that mean I am "pwning" you?

I just brought up BC2 because you guys just keep bashing MW2 for some of the same things that BC2 does. I'm just calling out the hypocrites.

Weird. It looks like this post was written in english, but all it says is "let me explain to you why my opinion is irrelevant".

Strange indeed.

I had BF2 but never really got sucked in, which I absolutely *DID* with BF2142, so perhaps that's one reason I hold a different opinion. 2142 had enough different with it to merit more than a description as "a re-skin".
- Titan mode (my favorite)
- "Near-future" gadgets that fundamentally altered gameplay styles (e.g., recon's cloak & decoy, SL drones, motion mines, etc.)
- Battlewalkers
- Pods

Don't get me wrong, I played BF2142 more than I ever played BF2. I was just commenting on the general state of the gaming community when it came out. A lot of people dismissed and hated 2142 simply because of the fact that it felt similar to BF2.

No, is EA paying you guys to bitch about MW2 in every thread?

Youre the one who hasn't said a word about the topic that is being talked about. The first thing you say in the thread is whining about how BF1943 has only 3 maps. You complain about Battlefield even when thats not what the topic is about.

Yes, everyone's a hypocrite here except you. Good job spreading justice and truth and the religion of MW2.

Once again, enjoy paying $15 for your map packs.

wait wait wait...who was the first one to mention BC2 if this thread? Who was the one who went off topic first? oh wait!! lets take a trip down memory lane (yours is apparently a pretty short lane)...Let's take a quick look at post # 5!

Bad Company 2 is releasing the first map pack for free. lol

OUCH!!! the other interesting thing of note is that you haven't said anything about the topic on hand either. Your 2nd post is calling me a troll paid by activision. If you took the time to read the thread, i wasn't complaining about BF1943 at all. Someone mentioned the small # of MW2 maps in this map pack and mentioned that you can get BF1943 for the same price. I just happened to mention that BF1943 only has 3 maps, so I'm not sure how that applies.

besides, since when was this a required purchase. And where exactly did i say i was going to purchase it? fuck man, you're pathetic.

If the map packs keep coming, they pretty much will be a required purchase to play online.

I bought COD :WaW on the 360 a few months ago, and getting online in a game was nearly impossible without having the map packs. And there was no way in hell I'd pay $30 at the time to get those three map packs when I only paid $20 for the game.
