It doesn't matter small or big dog in this 🙂
All it takes is for a child to 'not know' and go in to play and get a serious bite.
I have had to be part of euthanasia's because this was not addressed earlier and someone got a serious bite. At that point, it doesn't make sense to try a second chance with an animal for most people and is very sad.
This can easily be conditioned out of an animal it's just really a bit of time needed to put in.
We had a case where a new older Jack Russel Terrier tore the throat out of a family's long-term German Shepherd. Apparently, it did show food and toy aggression, but never did it escalate. They left the dogs with some new toys and came back a couple hours later to witness the carnage.
My corgi guards his raw hides and food, but not toys, against our new kitty. What do you do condition it out?
