There were Shelby Mustangs well before the Cobras. (Though the Super CobraJet 428 K-Code Mustangs did blur the line a bit since they weren't technically "cobras", but did carry the "CobraJet" name.)

SVT is the main engineering source for the car. Shelby lent his name and some expertise. The Cobra and GT500 monikers harken back to the Mustang's earlier days, like the 1960's Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT500 Mustangs, as well as the late 1960's Super CobraJet Mustangs and the Shelby Cobra.

I've heard rumours (not sure how credible they are) that there will be an option between a live axle and IRS. If true, it definitely recalls the 1960's when it was possible to walk into a dealer and effectively custom-order a car. Sadly, I doubt that there will be the kind of engine options there once were, but I think that offering the two kinds of suspension would be a step in the right direction.

yea they are SUPPOSED to have an option for either solid or irs which would be awesome for people that want to just smoke people in straight-a-ways or be able to outhandle them, IMO i think its a great idea to have the option for 2 different suspensions
