The Matrix, Caddyshack, The Terminator, Fight Club, Schindler's List, Titanic, or Ferris Bueller's Day Off. That should cover most of the genre's.
EDIT: forgot Finding Nemo/Toy Story

They are all independent with completely diffrent storys. A Fistful of Dollars story ends with a fistfull of dollar there is no part 2 and 3 story wise. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly again is a separate story altogether (was going to pick this one instead another great movie)

No action, no comedy, nothing but pure acting genius: Glengarry Glen Ross
(An excellent film for an adult to sink their eyes into.)

I'd probably pick one thats already been mentioned.. but instead i'll toss out "good will hunting" as a runner up.

Forest gump or shawshank would probably be my real top picks. Unless the Band of Brothers series could be picked as one entity.

I would have to go with Citezen Kane. It has almost every aspect of cinematography squeezed into one film, done better than almost any other film.
