*MUST SEE* BBC documentary on achieving a free society

This is an outstanding BBC documentary, enhanced by a nice musical score that includes music from the Godfather and Camille Saint Saens among others, that covers a wide variety of social and political topics concerned with achieving freedom in society. Parts 1 and 2 deal with the free market ideals of Friedrich von Hayek, game theory and the Soviet Union, and the prisoner's dilemma. Part 3 deals with the progression of society based on the individual pursuit of self interest, and should appeal especially to fans of Ayn Rand. I'd say it also covers a statement by Jiddu Krisnamurti: "It's no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society". Part 4 is directly relevant to our collapsing government and current economic crisis: "What were supposed to be institutions to help people had become destructive. These around them would seem to have turned against the very people they were supposed to serve" ~ "The fallacy that public choice economics took on was the fallacy that the government was working entirely for the citizen". Part 5 deals with psychology and psychological experiments, and Part 6 deals with systems analysis and military defense and the workplace.

Thanks for the link. Apparently its by Adam Curtis. He made the other good documentaries too, Century of the Self and The Power of Nightmares.

Both of those documentaries were excellent. Thanks for posting this.

If it doesn't promote the slavery of the self to the state via social programs, i doubt most of the leftists on here would take it too kindly.

Did you watch the documentary? I think it is an excellent documentary as a grad student in engineering and I don't think this documentary is political at all.

There are actually 3 parts total, 60 mins each. It goes very deep into social science + mathematics. Very enlightening indeed.

Don't mind him, he's just bitter that GWB couldn't have a third term in office.
