Yup. Miniumum bid here buddy is 100Mhz. Go here for unbeatable prices on Crucial/Micron memory. It's cheap, fast, and can OC very well. Free 2nd day shipping, to boot! :)

actualy some socket A boards will let you run the 66 mhz ram on them but you are hurting your performance by doing that. if you can afford it i would suggest getting some PC133 memory why it is still pretty cheap. heard rumor that memory prices are going back up so i would do it soon.

if you are on a tight budget for buying all the parts for 1 GIG TBIRD go to this site for some good prices on everything you need. also look in the for sale forum here to find some good deals. compuwiz1 always has good deals on unlocked thunderbirds.

id recommend getting high quality ram... people are saying the crucial ram is pretty good.. i got 512mb pc133 ram from compuwiz1 and it works great.. i havent had a chance to stick it in my system to overclock it yet but peopel have been reporting cas2-2-2 at 150mhz ;)

i also ordered a tbird 900@1150.... the chip failed last minute so he sent me a 1ghz@1.2! yay compuwiz1 rules :D

i decided to buy AMD 1.2 GB 133/266 FSB when it is out. So does that mean I need to buy 133 MHZ ram and not 100 mhz ??

thanks.

the price is about the same for both so i would get the 133. if you are going to overclock i would buy the quality ram like crucial, infineon and mushkin to get the most out of your investment

I already got 100Mhz Ram.

I decided to buy AMD 1.2 GB 133/266 FSB when it is out. So does that mean I need to buy 133 MHZ ram and cannot use the 100 mhz ??

oh ok, that will do till you decide you want better memory performance. trust me, i did the same thing you are going to do with memory- run PC100. there is a difference going from 100 to 133.

This a more complex question than it seems.

For the best performance in any scenario, get brand name PC133 cas2 RAM. Cheap as dirt right now. Maybe some of the Virtual Channel(VC) memory being discussed in the hot deals forum.

Much of what was sold as pc66 is actually pc100. The conversion to 100fsb was quite rapid, and true pc66 disappeared in a flash. Vendors sold a lot pc100 as pc66 knowing it was fully compatible and that customers were easily confused. Your stuff might work, hard to say, unless it's older than the pc100 standard.

Via chipsets allow the memory to be run asynchronously with the fsb, at either 100 or 133. Dunno about 66 though.

Is that better, or worse?
