I want to get King of the Hill season one.
But I don't have it yet so it must not be a must have...

Must have DVD's would be different then "Must have movies" I figure? Is your question what DVD's push the envelope of the DVD format in video and audio quality?

Probably my favorite DVD, in video/audio would be The 5th Element (Superbit). Not the best movie but the DVD is a great demo.

A "must have" DVD is one that can be watched over and over again. These DVDs might include IMO:

(in no specific order)
Star Wars (all episodes...when available)
Gladiater
Space Balls
Brave Heart
Animal House
The Matrix
Back to The future Trilogy
Tommy Boy
Blazing Saddles
Superman
Any Schwartzenegger Movie (pre End Of Days)
Indiana Jones Series (Coming Soon)
Lord Of The Rings Series
The Princess Bride
Pulp Fiction
The Reservoir Dogs

Thats all I can think of at this time. definatly more though

Yes, and that's why he wants to know - maybe he's looking for new DVDs to get and wants everyones opinion on what's great

And personal preference dictates that no matter what recommendations people give him, he still has equal chances of disagreeing. Thus it really doesn't matter.

That doesn't mean it doesn't matter. He's asking for people's lists, not debating what movies suck or what movies rock. Sure there are equal chances of him liking or disliking it, but how would he know if he's never seen it? If I put down American Pie and you think it blows, does that mean Shotgun won't like it? No, he could or he couldn't - but he's just asking for opinions on what we think are good.
