Investments are for suckers who're scared to spend. :) j/k

Seriously, if you got some extra, and you've got your bills paid up, splurge and buy something cool!

True, if I have spare cash laying around I usually spend it. I find it disturbing that Americans are in so much debt, it ain't funny (unless you're not an American).

I wonder if we'll ever break out of this "living paycheck to paycheck" mentallity and learn how to budget and save a little here and there.

On a happier note I'm going to see Ghosts of Mars and O tonight, sneaking into the second movie and treat myself to Carls Jr!

So you're going to blow $200 just to keep yourself entertained for a week? Well that's brilliant.

Nowadays, even a 1-year CD can get you a 5% yield

Where? Even with $10,000 the highest I can get here is 3% from Washington Mutual Bank.

Or you can go to this link and go buckwild!

61 reams @ $3.49/ream
= $212.89
- $15 coupon
= $197.89
+ $0 free shipping

That's 30,500 sheets of paper my friend...think about it

Washington Mutual gives crappy rates...I can't believe I'm inconveniencing myself with their savings account just so I can get that tiny 0.7% interest rate... :(

But doesn't Washington Mutual offer everything free with no weird hassles/minumum balances/direct deposit requirements?

Personally I would dump them and go with one of their competitors, how difficult is it to keep $100 in your account or sign up for direct deposit (through your employer).

I miss the early 1990's where 4.75% was the defacto standard savings account rate and a 6% CD was rate because they were all at 7-8%.

Buy a TV Tuner / Video Capture card for your pc. I bought an ATI TV Wonder VE from Best Buy for $39 after rebate. Its also a personal vcr, and you can make the television show itself your wallpaper as your are working. Nice.

For the price the quality is fine. I reccomend that if you buy it, dont use the driver cd. Go straight to the website and download the lastest drivers. They are 10,000% better. AND there was an issue with using the SB Live card. You have to disable your card prior to installation.

Of course you can blow thousands on video capture and editing. But if you just want to get your feet wet this is a good place to start.
