So apparently near a mosque near me a muslim butcher shop has open up. The sign says HALAL Meat Market. Everything is HALAL apaprently. So what is the quality of these places usually? Are HALAL meats of higher quality?

If you like goat, halal shops usually carry it. I also get my chicken from a halal store as well. My local halal butcher has fresher chicken than a supermarket brand.

They say a prayer and slit the throat of the animal instead of shooting it.
Allegedly makes the animal's death "less painful", but in fact it's MORE painful, and slower.
But that's the way it was done for centuries, I suppose.
I believe there are some EEGs out there showing that there is less of a brain response to throat slitting than captive bolt stunning. I don't think I've seen them myself, though. They say a prayer and slit the throat of the animal instead of shooting it.

sDon't fund them. I'm sure there are plenty of nonmuslim butcher shops around.
It should be delicious. Especially the pork chops.

I hope you're not serious, because yours is an ignorant statement if seriously meant.
Well, if he was, good old still semi-free market! I'm sure somebody will come in here and say people should be forced to buy from anybody that isn't a white male christian because they're devils.
I buy a decent bit of halal chicken beef and lamb, because it's delicious.Errrr
