I've seen Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Alex Lifeson, Steve Vai, Frank Zappa, BB King, Andres Segovia and many other guitarists play live over the years.

The only one that rivaled Stevie IMO was Jimi Hendrix. (although sadly I never saw him live ... a bit too young!)

I'd heard a bunch of his songs played by regular folks before I finally heard one of his albums (I felt morally obligated to check him out after hearing that many songs of his, and all of them were good). Yep, hell of a songwriter there.

That is a fine list, and most likely most of those performance went recorded, so those in the crowd(like you :D) witnessed something special.

The live performance is where the solo act can show their musical moxie by making "adjustments" for the audience.

Many of the finest musicians in history had the talent to improvise. Mozart sure did in his concertos, and for his friend Siegmund Haffer in the violin concerto section of his Haffner Serenade(movements 2-4). Those who bore witness to his play are a blessed bunch.

Beethoven too, got his foot in the door first with his ability to improvise on the piano; the reports preserved by history indicates he was top tier.

Thankfully, many old live performances of JoJo are on youtube and after evaluating them, she's one of my sacred cow musicians, and as you've already read, I compare her to these old classical titans.

FUUUUUUUUUUUCK. That said, hopefully they do the "we're broke up" and then come out with a new album in a few years.

The Prodigy is another brand that I really love. Unfortunately, I don't think we will ever see them again. I did get to see them live back in 1997 on the Lollapalooza tour. Great tour - Main Stage: Orbital, Devo, The Prodigy, The Orb, Tool, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Tricky. Second stage was Failure, Beck and Porno for Pyros and many others..

RUSH, I was a bit of a fan and enjoyed their music but finally went to see them live. I was blown away seeing them live. How could just 3 guys make that sound? Now appreciate them so much more.

Saw STS9 at a show many many years ago when they were pretty new. Was good stuff. I prefer breakbeat driven electronic music vs straight beat, so they were the right flavor beats. My buddy has gone to see them every year at Red Rocks in Colorado since he's lived in Denver and loves them live. My goal is to go out there to visit him and time it to be there to see them at that venue. Nothing like some tripped out breakbeat driven music to make that venue sing for me. Probably in 2022.

Checks out. Too young to pay attention to rivals like Sonny Jurgensen or ancient legends like Sammy Baugh but old enough to see Joe Theismann in his prime.

Then I saw that she had already gone far and had been known as Lady Gaga for like, 10 years. lol.

(Yes, and I would stretch the definition of "music" and say Jim Rome is music for myself because I LOVE his cadence and delivery. War Jim Rome. War The Jungle. Rack it.) XD

Check out Texas Flood, the long version. He does a fine job of Little Wing and Voodoo child as well.
