music tagging question

vshah

Lifer
do you keep the album name the same? then they all end up in the same folder and the track numbers get mixed up. I usually just add CD1, CD2 to the end of the album names, but then wmp/itunes are stupid and can't find the album art....very annoying

what do you guys do?

thanks,
Vivan

Not use tagging, nor using the music library functionality of WMP (if I once in a while play it with WMP in the first place), and never allow iTunes near any of my computers.

I just give the files logical filenames, and place them in folders with either the band's name, or just alfabetical folders.

How's that going for ya?

Once I woke up a bit more and realized that the English always want to replace the perfectly fine F in that word with PH I also realized that I could not be bothered to replace it 😉

The Dutch word is alfabet. That's why (when not thinking about it) I typed it wrong.

i mainly wanted to use itunes to get the album art automatically. right now i have it organized Artist\Album\song.mp3, and i just add cd1, cd2 to the end of the album name...guess it works :/

I have all my music in one large folder listed by artist - song name. My ID3 Tags list CD number, album, year and misc info. I usually use winamp to listen to my music, so when I want to hear a specific song I can just type the name in the folder and its all there.

Not sure what tags are available in the stuff you're using, but most tag formats have a DiscNumber tag of some sort.

i'm ripping with EAC, getting the music info from freedb. not sure how to automatically set the Disc number, or if it even comes with the freedb information

Not exactly an answer to your question, but I gave up tagging my music a long time ago. I just go by folder and filename, and use playlists. I don't bother with album art, either.

I keep them all in one folder and all songs have the same album tag. I then renumber the tracks 101, 102, 103.... for CD1 and 201, 202, 203... for CD2.
