Does anyone know if there is a way to stream one's iTunes library to one's iPhone over EDGE/3G a la AirVideo?

Whoa.. was going to recommend SimplifyMedia and then saw that they're shutting down. Good grief, I'm not sure now.

I happened to have caught a glimpse of Day 2 of Google I/O conference in which a new service was described as being able to stream your audio from your iTunes application to your Android device/phone. As I understand, the software being used is the next version of Simplify, rebranded as a Google application as Google purchased the company a few months ago. I am a huge fan of both companies and I eagerly look forward to new developments.

Who knows, just a random comment on their website. I'm still looking for an app to stream my music via SMB on my local network.

Yea, my roommate reminded me about SimplifyMedia, I was all over that early on, but sort of lost interest after a while. But saw that it was dead/dying.

Aparently there is a way to do it if I have my Mac set up as a web server, but bump that. Why o why has Apple not addressed this yet? This would be up there in the Killer App area.

Well I found an app called NetPortal that allows you to stream mp3's over a Samba share. I was able to do this over my local area network, but it's feasible to forward the SMB port to your home server so that you could login from the outside. I haven't tested it, but that's a thought.

A downside to the program is that when I navigate to a directory and play an audio file, it will only play that one file and exit out. As I don't have any m3u's in my mp3 directories, I can only go one song at a time.

$9.99 just to stream my music? Little steep. It seems the Free version is a little gimped.
