Working on this compilation/video for work and need a background song for it, without lyrics.

*Update - they want something edgier*
The track I chose was deemed too sedate. Now they want something a little more driving, modern, and emotional. I had them listen to a NIN track from the fragile (instrumental) and they said it worked but was a little TOO agressive. So electonic/almost industrial. Any suggestions?

Ok its got lyrics.. very soft ones.. but the saddest song I know is Nutshell by Alice in Chains. If the lyrics are drowned out it would work.

Would the mid-section of Metallica's Orion work? It's a ~3 minute bluesy instrumental... well, the song is eight minutes but the rest is too heavy.

'The Leave Taking' from TTT would be good even though there is background vocal that can't really be made out

'Samwise The Brave' wouldn't be too bad either.

ETA - 'Flight to the Ford' from FOTR might fit also.

Download some korean soap opera soundtracks. Those usually have good songs without lyrics. Try downloading the stairway to heaven soundtrack.
 
I was going to suggest My Immortal by Evanescence, but it has lyrics. Maybe you could just cut out the beginning piano part and loop it or something?

that it is! it's a little short (3:15 seconds) but if he has other work that might fit the groove, i'm all ears (4:50-:5:10 is my target duration)

It's the song over the ending credits of The Fountain.
