So my work is having a 5 year anniversary celebration and one of the events we are going to have is a chili cookoff competition. ive been asked to find some good cookoff music that fits the theme. Im a hiphop kind of guy so I wouldnt know the first thing about cookoff music.

You guys have any suggestions for music to play? perhaps suggest some songs.

How about old western songs.. like the ones in that simpsons ep.

Only thing appropriate for a chili cook-off is Charlie Daniels or Lynard Skynard...Nothing else will do... 🙂

If you like hip-hop, how about that Disco Inferno song that was all over the radio earlier this year? Although that doesn't really strike me as work-appropriate.

You could also do the original Disco Inferno song, or "Burnin' Down The House" (is that the Talking Heads?)? What ws that song in Rocky 4, "Hearts Afire" or something?

Beans Beans. The more you eat the more you toot, the more you toot the better you feel, so have Beans Beans for every Meal.

I made my famous chilli today and boy am I a tootin. I guess 5 bowls in 5 hours will do that to you 😀

Hmm .... It is tough to not say death metal, as that's what I listen to 90% of the time, but I will try my best.

How about some southern rock ??? The band Alabama Thunderpussy would be perfect me thinks.

chili cookoffs are usually western-themed and therefore country music would be appropriate...even though i hate country, most chili cookoffs play country music

Well now, you got yer choice, Country or Western.

Personally I would go with ZZTop and maybe some Lynard Skynard. Any Rockabilly will do if you have that type of crowd. If you expect mostly men with big mustaches, then I would stick to the Country Western.

Personally my chill is called "Mountain King Chill" and is accompanied by Savatage.
