Not sure how to ask this so here goes!
My wife and I like to listen to oldies from the 50?s and 60?s and some from the 70?s.
A few years ago I bought software called Total Recorder that lets me record what I am listening to.
My wife likes to walk and a few days ago asked about buying a radio she can use. I suggested a mp3 player with fm radio.

Now here is where I need help.
What do you use as your music source? I just looked at Rhapsody and I Tunes.
Free is always nice but if I can get what I want I will pay the fees.
I am also looking for high quality downloads because I can record them by using pcm or flac or others and like to play the music back on my home theater system.

Lets start with download sites and sites that have the radio features and so on.
In other words I need all the help I can get!!!
LOL
Thanks

I've never done recording from the radio into MP3.

For buying music, I go to Amazon.
For older music, or when I want a whole album, I go to the local used CD store, buy what I want - usually for less than $5 for the whole album - and then rip the album into MP3 and put it on my iPhone.

can you use pandora and record the song with your Total Recorder?

I'm not sure it's legal and I'm not advocating you break the law.

When I buy music, it is usually from Amazon, but - I have a very extensive library of tapes, and CDs. I would also suggest you visit your public library. Ours has a very good music section with lots of CDs of all genres. Those are free rips. And, I have a friend back East who also has the same tastes and collection, and we regularly exchange ripped DVDs. You can get many CDs on a DVD, especially in MP3 format.

Now that most music is DRM free. Just go where it's cheapest and who has it. Amazon and iTunes are the two places that usually have any song you are looking for.

HI
Thanks for all of the suggestions!
I went on line to the community library and found many cd?s that I can take out. Also all the libraries are tied together so I can request cd?s and books from any library in the county. What I can?t get ?free? at the library I will download.
Also I found this article on how to rip and burn high quality cd?s.

I use Rhapsody. I have the service which allows me to move my songs to mobile devices, which is nice. Download is typically the same price as Amazon/iTunes.

Zune Marketplace. All the songs I want while subscribed, plus ten free ones per month to keep forever.

That said, if I was really interested in owning, I'd probably just buy used CDs... I like lossless, when possible.
