Mushkin's Cas 2-2-2 512 PC2100 DIMMs

I just noticed that Mushkin is now selling an even higher-rated 512 meg DDR stick, bringing the total to 4 different choices:

Does anyone have any benchmarks to post with this stuff?

Is it worth $100 more per stick over the "basic" variety if I'm not overclocking?

Cas 2-2-2 @ $222...yeoooooooow. I think I will gamble and buy (2) 256MB OCZ PC3000's. 🙂

I also just checked over at Crucial.com, and their 512 DIMM prices are up to $190 for Cas 2.5-3-3! Yikes!

This reminds me of the time when the manufacturer of SDRAM epoxy caught fire a couple years ago and drove prices sky high...

[OT] I also heard that a motherglass shortage is causing a short supply of TFT screens, driving up prices for laptop screens and flat-panels. Apparently Apple is feeling the squeeze and can't even meet production on orders for flat-panel iMacs... [/OT]

What's the story with rising hardware costs?

You're better off with a 512MB stick of Corsair XMS2700. I've yet to see a stick that didn't do 150-160 2-2-2. And it is about $20-odd less than Mushkin. 😀

I'm running 2 sticks of the 512Mb Corsair PC2700 in my box right now. Running at 340Mhz, CAS2, 2.5V. Did Memtest 86 for 11hrs looping and Prime95 for 7hrs, passed both with flying colors. May try bumping it up faster but I'm pretty happy right now.

That's ONE GIG of PC2700 RAM running at 340 Mhz, stable.

My Sandra scores are awsome (Int 2541, Float 2538).

BTW, I got my RAM from Mwave. It's $205/stick.
