This had happened before.

In another thread, someone mentioned that basic 128M he bought is PQI chips.

PQI is cheapy not high quality chip, said by me.
$39 is ok price for this, not a hot deal.

Buycom Kingston valueram $41 seems to be better deal.

The 128 MB stick of Mushkin basic I ordered a week ago had Infineon chips.

That was me who bought the Mushkin Basic and got PQI. Mushkin
didn't even take the trouble to put their Muskin sticker on the
sticks. It was just junk PQI memory, straight off the boat
to your door. Up to that point, I'd been a big proponent of
the Muskin sales...I'd sent a lot of biz their way. Now I tell
everyone to buy Crucial if you're looking for cheap memory.
The Mushkin Basic is only a couple of bucks cheaper, and it's
Basic-ally crap.

I've seen this kind of thing before. A quality company thinks
they need to compete at the low end, but doesn't have the margins
to do it right. So they start selling crap under their umbrella.
Bottom line is that former customers get fed up and the cheap
stuff doesn't generate enough new sales to make up them...

Shame on Mushkin...
