i just got two 512 mb sticks of pc3500 level one black ram from ebay, in memtest, it says the L1 cache and the L2 cache, then the memory bandwidth. it currently has it at 1500 something mb/s...shouldnt it be muuuuch higher?? i've seen screen shots of other slower memory (pc3200) at higher than mine! like 2000 something mb/s.

i am currrently running my ram only at pc3200 speeds but the speed is concerning me. dual channel ddr enabled on a abit nf7-s rev2

mushkin's website says this ram is supposed to be 3.2 gb/s

did i get ripped off? the ebay seller had almost 200 positive feedback and the ram heatspreaders dont look modified. =\

SiSoft Sandra memory bandwidth?
If so, are you running dual channel? Are you running buffered or unbuffered tests? What are your memory timings?

What cas latency settings are you using?

Try 2-2-2-5 and then run the memory test again.

lets try to answer all the questions at once:

im running dual channel 400ddr

timing was 6-3-3-2 at first then later changed to 11-3-3-2 cuz i heard that was better for the nf7-s rev 2.0

im not sure whether or not its buffered or unbuffered tests. for memtest, its whatever test that starts running automatically when you boot into it

as for sisoft im getting over 3000 mb/s a sec, so i guess that means im safe? why doesnt memtest show a similar number? is it because i am running dual channel and it cut the 3000 something in half?

finally i think im scaring myself and i think that i didnt get ripped off because under CPU-Z (i just downloaded this program after i posted), under the memory tab dimm#1 and dimm#2 both say Enhanced Memories DDR-SDRAM PC3500 - 512 MB so i guess im safe, but the issue is that i am still wondering if memtest cut the bandwidth in half cuz of dual channel ddr.

sorry to jump the wagon before i got more info and thanks for the replies

i found 2-2-2-6 to be the fastest timings for my mushkin pc3500 on both the nf7-s v2 and the abit ic7 max 3

dunno how far their lvl1 goes but the lvl2 usually get's to 230mhz or more with a slight voltage boost

so which level are you talkin about when you say you can get 2-2-2-6? your sig says you have 2x512 too, so is yours level 2? cuz mine is level 1. thanks!

There goes your issue. You shouldn't really worry what Memtest says when you're in there. It doesn't actually benchmark your PC.

You should go ahead and try to use a lower latency with that RAM. 2-2-2-11 ought to be the best timings for an nForce2 platform, however, I don't think it's guaranteed that you can do those timings. 2-3-2-11 might be your best bet.

i'd love to run my ram at 11-2-2-2, but first i want to find out my max OC before i mess with tighter timings

you can see my dilemma in this thread

as far as I know, the level 1 can't do any better timings than 3-3-2. even at a lower speed the ram just doesn't like 2-2-2 timings. that's how my muskin level 1 is anyways. 11-3-3-2 should be good enough though. Maybe 11-2-3-2 might work but I doubt it.
