Im looking to buy some Mushkin PC 3000 memory and was wondering what chips does it use?

Also is Mushkin good? Price doesnt matter to me. 🙂

DO they actually use 6ns or lower? Unlike corsair (which i found out uses hand picked pc2100)

I have Pc2700 Mushkin ram and it is quite excellent...not sure about the chips would have to take the heat sheild off to look

I was looking at the PC3000 Mushkin is offering, seems like it hasn't gone through with Compatibility tests, because that is noted as pending.

But at $85 a pop for 256mb, that is an excellent price. By the way, Mushkin has an excellent reputation.
 
I was thinking that the PC3000 stuff is using same chips as pc 2700 just guarenteed to run at pc3000. But if anyone knows otherwise plz let us know. Be nice if it was true PC3000 (5.5ns)

I asked Mushkin what chips and what ns there PC3000 memory is. They replied saying its 6ns Samsung thats been hand tested to run at PC 3000 specs. Meaning its probably same thing as there PC2700 module (there same price to) but they basically guarentee PC3000 speeds.

Im getting 1gb of this stuff tomorrow 😛 )

If all those PC3000 are handpicked Samsung PC2700, then why not just get Samsung PC2700 from Googlegear? They have the 256mb sticks for $68, and 512mb sticks for $132. Better than paying $89 and $199, respectively.
 
umm. Chips arent the only thing important. the quality of the PCB is important. The stuf from googlegear.com (i have it) isnt original SAMSUNG PCB. and it didnt overclock well. one chip only ran 166mhz at cas 2.5

the other one was decent ran at 170 at cas 2. but still notin great.

oh ya another thing. Memory usually doesnt go bad. But if u buy from googlegear.com u dont have a great warrenty. 1year wtih googlegear. meaning if it goes bad u talk to them. have u been to resellerratings.com lately 😛? They seem to have good prices. They ship fast. But returning a item is something u dont want to do.

Ohh and btw. when u buy samsung memory u still dont get teh guarentee of pc3000. only pc2700.


another thing is. That amount of money difference isnt a big deal for me. I want a quality stick of ram. and ill let u know how the mushkin is tomorrow 🙂
 
This just was my first impressions.

= AWESOME MEMORY!

I got The mushkin this morning. about 2 hours ago. (love over night shipping). anyways i put it to the test. Ran it at 176mhz (since i have a i845D motherboard highest i could get my memory) with the fastest timings i could get (asus p4b266-c) 2225.

Ran 3dmark for hour and a half looping and prime 95 was running in the back group also. Flawless 🙂

my corsair couldnt do that!

Also running at 133mhz at cas 2225 my 3dmark score was bout 40 points higher with mushkin than with corsair. Same timings to and everything. Ran 3dmark multiple times and same results. MUSHKIN is faster at same clock speed and timings. /shrugs

so far so good. i havent had alot of time testing it so ill be posting back later.
