What is so special about this ram?

The latencies it is able to reach are some of the lowest on the market. However, I've heard that newer sticks are starting to get a combo of really low latencies and really high speeds.

hey guys don't get so hung up on missing this...

ocz enhanced bandwidth series are awesome memory that'll allow you to hit nice high speeds with low voltages and good timings as well....

they are very comparable to those of bh-5's in bandwidth scores...

most forums such as xtremesystems... people are starting to get rid of their bh-5's and getting ocz EB's instead...

ugh, I just got my package in today and they look nothing like the ones in the article. These say PC3200 DDR 2.2.2 BH with no heat spreader. Anyone else get these? is $119 still a good price.. if the memory is still a good deal I'll keep em.

"These say PC3200 DDR 2.2.2 BH with no heat spreader."

I don't think they made any claims about shipping these with heat spreaders. Mine came bare so the fact that they were indeed Winbond BH-5 chips was not hidden. A good excuse to pick up a ThermalTake memory cooling kit anyway. May not reduce the temps much, but hey it looks cool.

I heard most of these heat spreaders that come stock on memory like corsair and mushkin act as blankets instead of disapaiting heat and higher overclocks are available without heat spreaders.

The heat spreaders are mostly marketing for their sexy good looks. I will be sad to sell my shiny Blue Kingston Hyper X PC4000 chips for these ugly Bh-5 chips ha ha

Mine Got Shipped Today. Can't wait to get home from work and try these out!!!

So what kind of timing is everyone getting on these?

I didn't have too much time to play around with it last night but @2.75 VOlts i was getting a pair to run at Cas 2-2-2-5 up to 215 Cas 2-3-2-6 up to 225..

Im hoping to get the magic 2-2-2-5 at 233 though i don't think i can get that to happen without V-dimm volt modding and sending 3.3 Volts to these suckers. Any suggestions on how i can do it with stock voltage on my motherboard

i Got a Asus P4-p800 deluxe p4 2.8 which overclocks easily to 3.26 (233fsb) with my kingston hyperx PC4000 ram (at cas3)

If the chips are so good, why did they discontinued manufacturing of them?

I assume by "they" you mean Mushkin. Mushkin doesn't make the ICs on their RAM, so it wasn't their decision to stop making them. Winbond made them and they are no longer in the memory business.
