Mushkin HSDRAM vs HighPerf Rev2.0

Which is better? And why? People keep claiming the HSDRAM the absolute best SDRAM you can get because it guarrantees 150MHz 2-3-2, but the Mosel Vitalics are extremely good overclockers.

Huh. Muskin HighPerf rev2 is guarenteed 133 @ 2-2-2, and I believe the reviews get it up to 150+ @ 2-2-2...

EMS HSDRAM has higher theoretical mhz at PC150, but with most reviews Mosel Rev2 can do better in speed and overclocking.

If you want to know that the ram isn't causeing system instability past 133 mhz get the pc150. High rev can overclock really well but there is no gurantee you will reach your desired speed. If pc150 was cas 2,2,2 the choice would be simple. What kind of processor are you overclocking... If it's a t-bird you can overclock the clock multiplier as high as you can and just bump up the fsb a lil... in that case the high rev would benefit you the most.

HSDRAM owners are aguing the fact that its guarranteed to hit 150MHz 2-3-2 which isnt much of a difference to 2-2-2. And they also argue that the Mosel Vitalics dont guarranteed anything past 133MHz 2-2-2. Mushkin also claims the HSDRAM to be the best RAM they have. Thats the way it comes down to.

Mosel Vitelic Rev.2 is a more viable option, and will do in the upwards of 160+ MHz FSB.

You want some? 🙂

Im just curious what you guys think about the HSDRAM arguments, is the Rev2 really guarranteed to do 150MHz 2-2-2?

Mosel Vitelic uses a 7ns chip so that means 143MHz default... 🙂

8ns = 125MHz
7.5ns = 133MHz
7ns = 143MHz

I just wanted to add that whoever said you can't run PC150 at cas 2-2-2 above 124 isn't quite right. I am running one stick of the Mushkin rev 1.5 and one stick of the Mushkin HSDRAM and they are both @ 143mhz cas2, turbo, 4 way interleave, basically the fastest settings possible on my KT133 chipset. I believe turbo is the 2-2-2 setting at least.

Anyway, I think they are both pretty even so buy whatever is cheaper. When I bought my stick of rev1.5 it was the cheapest of what they had at the time though I regret buying that stick now - I bought it a month before the ram prices plummeted for $135 and just a week or two ago they were $89. Then a month later after I bought the rev1.5 stick there was a sale on the PC150 HSDRAM for $99 so I grabbed a stick of that. The difference between 2-2-2 and 2-3-2 are very small. I believe we are talking something like 1%-2% difference in speed.

So go with the PC150 if you want to be absolutely positively 100% sure it will hit 150mhz and it is cheaper. Otherwise go for the other stuff.

I would hope that you can run cas2 @ 143 with PC150 memory. 🙂

PC150 HSDRAM has 4.5 ns Clock Access Time and 6.6 ns Clock Cycle timing.
Mosel has a 5.4 ns Clock Access and 7 ns Clock Cycle timing.

However, Mosel is the overclockin' memory of choice, and will clock to 150 ~ 165.

VC doesn't go far past 133, from what I've seen.

I have the Rev2, and it is incredible. 222 up to 150 without issue.
