Just checked both Mushkin and Crucial websites for some 5300/667 ram and was surprised to see that Mushkin had a $100.00 lower price than Crucial......

What's the better ram and why the almost $100.00 diff?

Crucial Ballistix (1GBx2) $315.00
DDR2 PC2-5300: 3-3-3-12: UNBUFFERED: NON-ECC: DDR2-667: 2.2V: 128Meg x 64

Mushkin XP2 (1GBx2) $220.00
DDR2 PC2-5300: 3-3-3-10: UNBUFFERED: NON-ECC: DDR2-667: 2.1-2.3V: 128Meg x 64

Ballistix is overpriced "133t" gamer RAM supposedly for overclocking. Regular Crucial memory is much cheaper.

Pretty much.

I'd easily pick the Mushkin of those two.

Well I would've went the Mushkin route back in NOV', they did'nt have the ram I was looking for. I always bought Mushkin before but went with Crucial.

When I sell this rig, I hope they have what I'm looking for. I might even burn this ram and put it on video for you guys to show my disgust for Crucial!

Trust me, it's good ram............ I'm using it as I type **LMAO**

It's weird, but the last couple times I've looked it seems like Crucial sticks (even the regular ones) are a lot more expensive than they used to be. Crucial had always been my choice when I just needed plain-old decent RAM without any bells and whistles. Just looking at Newegg right now, a pair of non-Ballistix Crucial 512MB DDR2 533 sticks costs $109 compared to the equivalent Corsair Value Select at $89. That's a pretty significant difference. I kind of remembered Crucial as being right on the borderline between "value" RAM and "enthusiast" RAM while only costing a few dollars more than the cheap stuff.

Am I dreaming, or did something happen with their pricing recently?
