<< ...to answer your question...no. PC-400 ddr (200mhz fsb) would NOT out perform PC-1066 (133fsb) for the Pentium 4 platform... >>
What about when compared to PC800?
I am concerned cause i am planing on buying (upgrading) a P42.0A (hopefully for under $200) in June. Hopefully yields by that tiime would be good enuf to OC it to 133-150 FSB range. Then pair it up with 1GB of 1066RDRAM (OCedd to match the FSB of CPU). and i was wondering if DDR continues to improve, it may surpass the RDRAM solution.
fkloster is right. PC2700 is about same speed as PC 800 rdram (maybe tad slower but not much) overall. PC 3200 is not as fast as PC1066 would be. Now. Coming out in the summer is a duel channel PC2700 SIS chipset. Can we say 5.4GBs memory bandwith? 🙂
thats one reason i bought ddr. buying PC800 now will probably only last u threw your current system. Buying a computer and using PC2700 will last u long. LONG time 🙂
btw. I posted information on PC3000 memory from mushkin here: MUSHKIN PC3000
<< wow.... with the price tag of $199..... I think I will go with a GF4 Ti4200. >>
I was so looking forward to 4200 but with the crippling of memory of the 128 MB 4200 (to 444 from 500) i am leanign towards the 4400. So hoping to get the 4400 at around 220-240 level over the next month or so. (i am gonna upgrade the vid card and sound card before the CPU/mem)

Would i still be better of buying DDR over 1066 RDRAM?

depends. Dual channel PC2700 motherboards (sis chipsets) will be coming out around the summer time (late summer probably). and that will be faster than RDRAM PC1066. But if u only buy INTEL chipsets then i would go with PC 1066 rdram cause i dont think they going to make or going to make any time soon a duel channel DDR memory solution.
