Wow wtf? I would opt for this instead of the HP Ram.

I speculate that companies want to move to DDR3 hardware advancement stage

I have a feeling that AMD will pull something with DDR3?

Well, with current prices of DDR2, and the fact that DDR2 still provides PLENTY of bandwidth for Core 2's, I don't see any reason for anyone to go with DDR3.

But AMD has been making a few mistakes here and there. ;)

Edit: Dell has just recently released the xps 420 and Precision T3400 (X38 chipsets), and both use DDR2, so I don't see DDR3 memory prices falling anytime soon.

I am hoping their Crucial 1G for $10, after a small $15 rebate, comes back again (missed it the 1st time around).

I say no to Geil. My one experience with Geil is that their customer service is virtually non-existent. I had a 1GB PC-3200 go bad after a year. This is how you have to initiate an RMA, by sending them an email. Geil RMA process. I sent email after email to try to get an RMA and not one response. I must have sent 30 to 40 emails over 4-5 weeks. I finally gave up. I still had my receipt from Fry's. I explained my situation at Fry's return desk about Geil's lousy customer service and the guy in charge of returns exchanged the bad DIMM for a brand-new one. I can't imagine how it would be if you had trouble with one of their rebates.

Just RMA'd a stick of PNY DDR which would not run at the rated speed, and PNY sent me a bad stick which fails memtest at every speed.

Honestly, I don't care. Intel's pricing has been competitive, even though there is not any competition. Nothing like Nvidia's pricing. And nothing like AMD's pricing when they were in the lead. People were gobbling up X2 3800's for $300 and much more for higher-end X2's as well. Unreal compared to what Intel is offering. People are not as appreciative of the $280 Q6600 as they aught to be.

We could be seeing a Q6300 for $280, a Q6400 for $325, and a Q6600 for $500.

With the a $2.2B Loan and a 4th consecutive loss (latest being 396Million) Smart move by Intel? Competitive pricing continue to plummet AMD profits? :D

Earlier this week, Intel reported a net income of nearly $1.9 billion for the third quarter, although the average selling price for its microprocessors remained flat. The company was able to turn a profit by selling more processors and cutting costs.

Less money for R&D and spending will continue to fail AMD?

Plus all that AMD stuff relates back to ATI. Intel is doing the work for Nvidia as they are skyrocketing on wall street?

Just my 2 cents. I'm 15 lol

edit: Yeah didn't those $1k 3.4ghz P4 Extreme Edition make you sick to your stomache

Mushkin rebates SHOULD be good. Mushkin is a great company overall.

Now that I have my ram I would like these prices to at least double! I have some spare sticks to see and I'm not selling them for $15 a gig!

This is crazy. I'm not even going to get one. My HTPC takes DDR2 but nothing over 2700 and 512MB. My main rig is DDR3. And of course these don't fit my laptop.

Such an incredible urge to buy, but no home for one.

I got my mushkin rebate promptly. Wasn't for this deal, but I would say they're trustworthy.
