I hate 2.35:1. I'd love it if all movies were shot in 1.85:1. If it's some epic war movie with 10,000 people on screen and vast landscapes then fine, but The Incredibles was in 2.35:1, that's just crazy. Even worse when a drama or comedy uses that frame.
Well dunno about that. Most movies are shown in the theater first which is 2.35:1. They are then converted to fit standard TVs. Maybe 10 years from now we'll see 2.35:1 OLED displays![]()
Movie theater screens can adjust to be any aspect ratio. The movies are show in the OAR which is whatever it was shot in. I'd say it's about 50 - 50, 1.85 vs 2.35. Most blockbuster movies (big budget) are 2.35.
Epic films and dramas are generally 2.35:1. Chick flicks, family films and animation are generally 1.85:1.
The ratio is more like 30% 1.85:1 to 70% 2.35:1.
