Mural of Steve Yzerman gone

They use to have this on a building in downtown Detroit. Now they might have something like this on the building. This is such bullsh!t. Detroit is Yzermans tiwn. No one can ever replace him. He is a true leader and represents the city the best.

I love his budget cuts, too bad he forgot to lower his own security. Apparently Kwame Kilpatrick needs the biggest mayoral security force in the United States to protect him. Perhpas that is a hint about how bad of a job he does?

Oh well, he got elected because of the color of his skin, there is not much else to be done. :roll:

By the way, did you guys hear B.Wall became the 5th player in NBA history to have at least 100 blocks and 100 steals, 5 seasons in a row. The others were Dr. J, David Robinson, Olajuwon (sp?) and I forget the 5th guy.

I heard yesterday he is proposing a 2% tax on FAST FOOD PURCHASES. wtf? he's also cutting police and fire dept. staff? HELLO? This is Detroit - don't they need to at least maintain current levels of police officers and firefighters?

Yep, I believe they are removing 100 police officer/firefighters. It's great that the suburbs have a higher population density than the city now.

i'm not sure, but i do know that Ben Wallace was the first person in NBA history to record 1,000 rebounds, 100 steals, and 100 blocks for 4 seasons in a row

Joe Dumars

Those people are the only good choices IMHO. Those athlets represent Detroit the best.

It would suck if they do. They should base on a persons dedication to the town in their entire career. If it's not Yzerman then Dumars should be on the wall. He shows he loves Detroit. He took a bad team and made them into champs.

It would suck if they do. They should base on a persons dedication to the town in their entire career. If it's not Yzerman then Dumars should be on the wall. He shows he loves Detroit. He took a bad team and made them into champs.

i agree, if they decide to put up images of active and non-active players.

i disagree that Ben Wallace isnt' a good representative of the city. he came from humble beginnings, not the pedigree that many players are blessed with. his entire game is based on hard work and hustle. he even recently talked down a contract extension saying the he would honor his existing contract, since he gets paid plenty of money (although, a paltry sum compared to many in the NBA).

I'd consider putting Kris Draper on it. He's just such a great Wing. How about D-Mac?

Hell, put the whole grind line up there! Drapes, D-Mac & Malts. That would be a kickass mural and I'm not even a Wing fan!
