Lol, short & sweet :)

I thought I caught a post early on in the muon thread saying it was slower, though that thread is large & I didn't see if it was fixed latter on.

for years i've hesitated to join the standalone Muon1 DPAD project b/c i'm lazy and don't want to manage more than just one DC client (namely the BOINC client). i also had it in my head that joining the Yoyo@Home project would make my CPU crunch more than just the Muon1 application/sub-project. i don't know why it didn't dawn on me sooner that i can select the individual applications i'd like to run (just like i can with any other BOINC project)...so after years of running the major physics and astronomy projects (Milkyway@Home, SETI@Home, Einstein@Home, LHC@Home, Test4Theory@Home, etc.), i finally joined the Yoyo@Home project to run just the Muon1 DPAD project.

i'm not gonna play around w/ alpha testing (or beta testing for that matter) since i've just joined the project. its probably best that i continue to run the standard v4.45 work units until i know for sure that my host is producing valid results regularly. anyways, just i wanted to say hi to all my new Muon1 DPAD TeAmmates. i know Assimilator1 recommended i join the project years ago, so here i am :).

The DPAD client is easy to handle ;), welcome to DPAD anyway :).

What ya running it on?
i'm running the project on my two 1055T machines, though not all 6 CPU cores are devoted entirely to Muon1 DPAD on either machine b/c other DC projects are running along side it. on one of my 1055T machines i'm running 1 Test4Theory@Home task and 5 Muon1 DPAD tasks simultaneously, and on the other i'm running 4 Milkyway@Home tasks (on 2 7970 GPUs), 1 Test4Theory@Home task, and 3 Muon1 DPAD tasks simultaneously.

what can i say? i'm a sucker for particle & high-energy physics :)

that said, i discovered this morning that i'm already earning credit for the project, but not for the TeAm. at first i was confused, but then it hit me like a ton of bricks - i don't think Yoyo@Home automatically opens a user's account page in the default web browser whenever a host attaches to the project (like most other projects do), and so i didn't join the TeAm more or less as soon as i attached my first host to the project. no worries though...i'm now crunching for the TeAm! i imagine i'll show up as a TeAm member on Free DC and BOINCstats sometime in the next 24 hours...
