Remember that Mandelbrot shader I posted a while back? Well, it's back, only better. There's now 4 different math/rendering methods, and a benchmark of each one. Should work on SM2 or SM3 hardware, and also via software rendering. Post your specs and the results you get. I'd be especially interested in how Conroe compares to other cpu's in this one, as well as how much each video card benefits from SM3.

Here's my 2 test subjects:

2.4ghz Opteron165, x1900xt -
SM3 = 25fps
SM2 = 13
FBO = 10
CPU = 2.75

2.4ghz A64 Winchester, 7800gt @ 490mhz -
SM3 = 5.8
SM2 = 6
FBO = 7
CPU = 1.45

Doesnt seem to run properly for me ,my scores are all in the single digits (6 - 7's) and i cant exit the program , have to end task.

Bets i get the lowest scores 😉

2.1Ghz tbred-b, 6600GT@585/1145, 1GB RAM

SM3 = 2.625
SM2 = 2
FBO = 3
CPU = 1.166667

I have to end task to get out too...

No joy on my P4 & 9600XT.

Says I don't have SM 3, the screen goes blank & the only way to kill it is with the task manager.

Any thoughts?

Doesn't work here (black screen then exit). What capabilities are needed? Is there a reference implementation? I know it sounds silly but I'm trying it in VMware to test the experimental 3D. 😉 Looks like others are having problems though.

same on 9800

The x800 and 9800 series cards dont support SM3, but it should still run the other rendering modes. Of course, I didnt have an actual x800 card to test this before, so we'll see if I can fix the issue. But at least it detects the lack of SM3 support 😛

you need to fix the 'having to end it with task manager' problem too 😉 I have sm3 (just) and that still got me...

Are you running WinXP or some other OS? I only have XP to test it on.

Yea, the program never exited and it took fover for the first test to start or a long firs test??? I'm not even sure.

SM3=5.75 SM2=6 FBO=4 CPU=1.46

A64 3500
7900GS @ 600/1800

edit: this program hates my computer. When I exist, it locks up my display - only by refreshing the screen using WIN+L and logging back in will it come up correctly.
