Munich

I'm not entirely familiar with the events after the Munich slayings. Did the movie stay close to the actual events that took place afterwards?

I actually was quite dissapointed with the movie...I had really high hopes, but I just felt it was kind of "meh." Not too mention it dragged on too long imo.

With a better editor/producer I felt it would have been awesome.

Fresh Air from WHYY, January 3, 2006 · Pulitzer prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner co-wrote the screenplay for the new Stephen Spielberg film Munich. Kushner won a Pulitzer for his 1993-1994 play Angels in America, which was performed in two parts and set in New York in the mid-1980s in the midst of the AIDS epidemic.


 
Bump for awesomeness.

It's funny seeing all the blind partisans coming out of the woodwork for this one (see other ATOT thread, I chose this one because it was newer). The film was as neutral as it is possible to be when dealing with a highly political subject. Any claims otherwise just reveal your sympathies...

Yeah. Honestly the thing that shocked me the most about the movie was that Spielberg had the balls to frame the credits on the World Trade Center.

That is exactly why I searched for this thread, I live in NYC and I wasn't sure if those were the silouetes for the WTC during the credits; Waterside was easily seen in the background, but I was still thrown off 😱
 
One thing I didn't understand is, why is that guy seeing visions of the Munich slayings when he's having sex with his wife near the end of the movie?

He had flashbacks throughout the film; IMO it's his way of mentally dealing w/ what he was about to do, the flashback when he is on the plane and takes off his wedding ring and what he has done, the flashback when he is having sex w/ his wife.
